WTF: Yes, I heard this thing about being afraid to complain or disagree because of being retaliated against but, the City doesn't require you to leave your name and neither does the Chamber if you want to discuss something with them. A letter can be written. A temp email set up with Yahoo just for the purpose of addressing a specific issue. Also, have you ever noted the voter turnout in Fort Scott? They will even mail you the ballot and you can mail it back in - how much easier can they make it for them? What about the claims that the upper crusty aren't the ones running the show in Fort Scott? Then who do they fear? It just comes down to the fact that if you aren't willing to take some risk, don't expect to get the benefits. Most of these people putting out the info here only came in after Topix quit requiring registration which gives them the opportunity to have unlimited time to create new characters to agree, well, with their own posts - this time might be better spent checking on the gossip which, in Fort Scott, quickly becomes the undisputed truth. If you won't stand up for yourself and your beliefs....I just don't get it as in a City that is so darn wonderful filled with unlimited wonderful people, why are the people so afraid to speak? I was thinking that if all citizens were afraid to take action and speak their minds, we would still be a colony of England.

Well written! This is a great post.

And I agree all it takes is a resounding voice to start change. But today's people are to sheepish as of now to stand up for what they believe in. Additionally everyone is only thinking of the here and now. They do not consider the future. Everyone will have their excuse for not speaking up ... and as much as my last post sounded like an excuse for those who don't... I agree with you. Until more of these sheep get the fortitude to stand up for their beliefs FS will not get better. It will just keep flowing in same direction it has been for the last decade.

FS also will not disappear... It will just get so bad that those who are now not speaking up will feel the need to move. They don't realize they will then lose those things they feared they were going to lose by speaking up (jobs, family, possessions, etc).
