I have heard that Jonesboro is getting new turf , track, score boards, lights, video board, and sound system.
What kind of team will they have? Anyone in the know about returning players and new players coming up from Jr. Highs ?

Not 100% sure on the video board and sound system, it will depend on the funds raised. As far as the team, they lose a lot of players, but will reload from returning kids and sophs from the two JR Highs. I'd be surprised with a semi-finalist run this year, but that's why you play.

Anderson is running this year and he is fast, real fast! They also have a good quarterback(Coats) that has been working with some well known college level trainers from what I've heard. I hear he's awesome. There was a lot of hooplah about some kid coming up from Wynne but to tell you the truth, I don't think we needed him. He's more of a baseball player anyway. If you look at the Wynne topix, we REALLY don't need his parents! Anyway, I think we have different team from last year but they are just as talented in a passing team category. I think that's where we fell short last year against teams like Cabot. Time to switch it up Coleman!, cant always be about yards, sometimes it has to be about touchdowns! Really excited to see what happens this year.

Wingo will be the starting QB, book it. DJ isn't big enough to play RB, his running style is straight up. I expect he will be playing WR or somewhere out in space, or for his health, I hope he is.

No offense but ur "source" doesn't always have correct word .. Don't go by what everyone hears or assumes ... This wingo fella will def not be the starter ... He'll mop up duty games and play if coats is struggling horribly or gets hurt ... Otherwise it's coats job.. He was groomed for this gig ..from what everyone says about the other kids parents I don't think the coach would even want or put up with that headache

And just who is your "source"? I'll trust mine until I've seen otherwise. Unless you're RC, then I wouldn't believe your son, he's led others to believe differently before.

Well, I'd have my crying towel handy just in case. Like I said, it means nothing to me, I'm for the Canes whomever is playing. What about the Mitchell kid, what position will he play?

Jonesboro reloads every year. There is always an abundance of talent at every position. They will be just fine. Randy will get them in the right positions, get the ball to the right people & will play the best player regardless of what parents or anyone else thinks. He there to teach the kids about football & life & to win ball games & he is very good at that.

Anderson is playing receiver. Wingo will most likely be starting quarterback. He got over 2,000 yards passing while splitting time with another quarterback! By week 12 he had 20 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions! If you want to check his highlights be my guest www.hudl.com/athlete/1449960/highlights/41907...

So what's the word now? I know things tend to change after a few camps, etc. Is the line up still the same or are roles shifting? Also, looks like the field is well underway. Really exciting to see this type of progress in Jonesboro. Maybe we'll stop giving up events like track meets and soccer tournaments to smaller towns like Paragould.

Soccer tournaments?? Seriously, the only soccer tournament that might get played on the new turf would be a state tournament and what would be our second field, Joe Mac?? I'm sure they will host the Paul Hoffman Relays and take their turn at the conference meet. I do expect them to bid for the 6A State track meet in the next few years.

As far as QB, it's over and was back in January when Wingo transferred in from Wynne.

We have already placed a bid with AAA to host next year's 6A state so for tournament- and no- if we get it, it will be played at the school on the new turf, not at Joe Mack. We bid on it this year and were not chosen as the host team. As far as the track, it will be one of the nicest in the state and we should be a me to host many tournaments. The only track I've seen that will be nicer is at El Dorado.

So, you'll be playing both the girls and boys state tournament on one field? When is the last time you did that?

Track has meets, not tournaments. Russellville and Lake Hamilton have been hosting for awhile, although I see no reason for Jonesboro not to with a new track.

There is already a soccer tournament being scheduled for the new field for the start of the season ...sorry to tell ya . Could even be a joint tournament with valley view where the two brackets split up and play each round at each schools home field..
