Jonesboro is not in a recession, because most people in Jonesboro don't make enough to have any investments. Living check to check you don't feel the economic collapes nearly as bad. Our Government was really left F-ed up by George W. Bush.

I noticed there are several stores in the mall hiring extra Christmas help, so maybe they should look there?

Your statement is correct, however, this Govt has been getting effed up since its birth. It wasnt just bush or both of them its been building up since the beginning. Truth of the matter is we havent had a real Leader since Kennedy.

On a lighter side, that pertains to your statement,my wife's side of the family lived through the depression, and the depression was years over before they ever knew we had one lol they were so poor that their lifestyle never changed at all rofl

They're just trying to follow this destructive liberal administration's example of spending money they don't have, the problem being they'll go to jail and Obama and his cohorts never will.

I would say business in general is down 30% or more from same period last year. Worse in some sectors than others. and LY wasn't very good.

I would guess that biz is down about 30% from last years numbers, and last year wasn't stellar to begin with. Anecdotal evidence like number of people at the mall mean nothing. How much or little are they spending is the proof in the pudding.

However, this doesn't reflect the retail sales in a particular area such as Jonesboro. That would be reflected more from the overall decrease in sales tax receipts for this year.

I own a small business, and know several other owners who are seeing the same decreases. No, I didn't make up imaginary numbers like the White House's stimulus job figures. I had 13 employees this time last year, 5 now.

I see lots of people in the stores not buying anything, yes the economy is not good, but I feel the stimulas has sparked some buying. But the jobs have to come back, people have to buy, to get the jobs back. Its a cycle that will slowly come back and it won't happen over night. Bottom line is several industry areas, its not going to come back real quick, and thats a huge blow to the economy. I mean think about it, 5 years ago, people were maxing their CC's out and now the CC are not as easy to get. Heck I use to get at least one CC check offer a week giving me at least $5-$10,000 check to go spend however I wanted. They wanted people in debt and the government did nothing to stop this. Then they would jack the interest up without notice after a year or so. People were stupid. But some of that is not happening now thank the Lord.

To a portion of the citizens of Jonesboro, there is no recesion and will not be a recesion because the Government keeps handing out the checks to all the single mothers and so called disabled (sluts and crackheads).
I was told that if a person draws an unemployement check, they own the government taxes on that! So here is a poor hard working fellow, down on his luck for a few days with no job, worrying his head off about keeping his little wife and kids under a roof, and keeping a few groceries in the kitchen. So then comes the government taking what little he has to give to some lazy jerk that refuses to work, or paying some nasty slut to have more babies from different no-count, lazy, good for nothing, piece of crap boy.
And you wonder why I think it is time for a call to action? How long will decent, God Fearing Folks stand for this nonsense? I think it is time to take up the cause of liberty and freedom, fight the good fight and take back this great nation.
My friends, there is no hope in the current change, it is only more of the same, only this time it is much more. The goverment taking more, doing more and the people giving more, the most expensive of these being the great grab of liberty and freedom the government is stealing from us in its great power grab.
Amen to that!! the Poor are getting richer, if only because everyone else is doing worse.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
