Week nights Mon, Tues, and Wed are way too light for most of the restaurants. We have to rely on the out of towners to make the weekends great.

That's a symptom of the economy. Eating at home saves some cash.

I like Kimono in downtown Jonesboro. They have the nicest asian inspired interior in the area. It is very cool and contemporary.

Paragould has some good restaurants for a town of its' size. I can't remember the name of the homemade pizza place on the highway into town from Jobo but they have some really great pizzas.

Do you own one? Don't you think they'd be closed at least a couple days a week if that were the case? That's another advantage local restaurants have. They can tailor their hours to their locale rather than setting basically nationwide hours.
You cannot afford to be closed when you have overhead to pay.

Fugi's food is slightly better I think, but only slighlty and Kimono's atmosphere is WAY better! I'm a fan. BTW- I've heard there is yet another Italian place coming Downtown and I've actually talked to the guy, but don't recall him saying his name. It's gonna go in where the old Subway/deli shop was.

No, I didn't. Well, they make a damned great pizza nonetheless!

If you aren't making money, you can't afford to be open. Staff and food cost money too.

My favorite regular places I go to spend my money are

Tandoori
A Taste of Pho
Omar's Uptown

There are some other local places that have good food, but other issues such as Godsey's with their iffy service and long wait times or Cregeen's, which has serious service and quality issues.

Could you just f'in argue a little??

Many small restaurants can be operated during slow times by the owners. So no labor cost. And unless you're a buffet, you don't have to fix food unless you sell it. when you've got rent, insurance, etc to pay, you can't afford to shut down and miss business (aka cash flow). But before you tell me, I'm sure I'm wrong about that, so thanks in advance.

Obvious that you don't manage restaurants. Do you think things like baked potatoes are made to order? I eat at local restaurants during the week, and the only owner l8 see is the owner running the register at Casa Maya. Any time the doors are open for service, food must be prepped ahead. That's why it's not uncommon to see items available only at certain times. It would have to be a pretty small operation for the owners to operate it, so as I said, they must be turning some profit to be open those days.
