its a shame life means so little. 2 mothers lost their son. one is dead and the other will have no life after prison. All for something trivial. its a shame our young people can only see the end and dont see nothing in between. life is shorter than any of us think. So Sad.

In deed it is a sad situation and I don't condone this act of violence, but Sean generally doesn't battle people until they battle him first. He was my friend. I believe it's more to the story thaneveryone is putting out. It is not the patrons of the GRTC, it's the people who come downtown to "CHILL" and i'm baffled that there is always a negative shot at the people who do use downtown Richmond and not abuse it. Police knows what's goes on, it takes a situation like this to catch there attention. Maybe there will be more police patrolance in the downtown area.

I really don't feel it has anything to do with the area or a busy bus stop? This area of Broad St. been busy since I was a litle girl. Not to mention we have a city full of Law enforcement officers that don't patrol that area enough. All these presincts that the tax payers continue to put in he city, and they still got to spend THOUSANDS with the local funeral homes. If that ain't double jeopardy. Plus we just got the New Chamberlayne Ave presinct,Grace St,9th St,25th St, and West End are not 10 min. away. Then we also gt VCU police so why no one patrols the area is a good question. That would be one way to cut back on Broad St killings. I don't think no one would pull out a gun or knife and kill a man with the police standing right there. One thing for sure where ever there is a killing, there is "NO" police. They maybe somewhere watching a drug deal or catching a thief, but not saving a life.I even feel that the Richmod Sherriff office do a better job then RPD? they are always making arrest, and assisting the city with crime and even other issues that no one even notices? Like the substance Abuse program that is a success. So a good suggestion would be to patrol these areas with more police,it's only a part of their job desription? The people are going to be on Broad St. and they will be catching buses, and hanging out. it's been going on for 30yrs.,and will go on for 30 more! Let's hope they won't be still KILLING!

My hear felt prayers goes out to the family of the victim. Desean Trent is my brother and has a history of mental illnesses from since we were as little as 5 years old. He has never received the proper medical attention to treat his symptoms. However you all my say that I still have my brother but actually I dont and have not seen him in many years. Because of his illnesses he has been incarcerated all of his life which has affected our relationship with him. We have no communication and like i stated earlier haven't spoken in years. However this is the case of black on black crime, but from growing up I know that my brother would not intentionally just kill someone.

Lets not make this about Broad St,this is about a young gentleman who lost his life. And lets not make this about moving the bus stop because there are to many people, this is about a mother who have to say goodbye to her son. Lets PRAY! And then lets fine a way to make sure something like this never happen again.

I pray for both families, God always knows what he is doing he took one home with him and left one here on this earth for some people going to prison for life is just like dieing cause your life is over and you have to live with yourself every day for what u did. Every thing is for a reason, i know many hearts are sadden i can only imagine losing a child.
God will not leave you nor forsake you, he is in Gods hands now which is a safe place to be. Hold on to your inner family and outer family we will help u get through this.

Javis Jarell Turner was my boyfriend my 9th grade year...He was friendly to everybody and didnt mind helping out others...I never thought I would wake up to read a text message from family saying he was stabbed to death and didnt make it...Its a shame now and days life means nothing to people. A mother and father lost then son who was only 20 years old and now how to put his life to rest...I no how it feels to lose a love one...I hope Desean Trent gets life in jail because what he did was crazy...Nobody should just up and take a person life and dont pay the price of the crime...How can you stab somebody to death and then try to run away from the crime...He must of brought he was getting away...This man has histroy with the law...But my prayers goes out to the TURNER family...Just look at it as GOD took Javis to a better place...Javis you will be missed...I LOVE AND MISS YOU MY TEDDY BEAR

This is nice of you to think of the family and speak in your brother behalf and now I hope he get help, but it is up to him, he made the mistake to stab this young man and he could have fought fist to fist. Before the days leading up this tragedy he was always standing around looking crazy, i understand some of the problems but you do not take someone life and stab them 17 times, he almost cut is hand off stabbing this young man, this was over kill and Sean is a big guy. Only thing that I can say is hang in there with your brother, no matter the out come. I had to look at Mike the other nite and that man could not even shed a tear for the lost of his son and asking the question why didn't someone try to stop the fight? I agree with him!!!

Honestly I understand your concerns about Mr.Turner, but you and I were not there when this incident transpired between the two of these young men. We both see the same things on the news and how could a person get stabbed 17 times in a matter of two minutes, none of the news channels I watched stated this. You, I, none of us are the ultimate judge's in this situation, We have a judicial system that will give us the correct answers in this case soon, There is really no need to judge. Secondly a person has a right of freedom to have any expression on there face it does not mean that one is crazy.

Keisha, I seen your brother every day until he was locked up for this offense,he was always on the block at all hours of the day and night and I am not the only one, I can only speak for myself.Tonite they had a memorial service for Jarvis and it was very sad to see his parents stand their with tears in the eyes and pain in their hearts. This another black on black and both sides have lost sons.Mixed emotions on both side and this needs to stop and people will forgive in the future I hope and like I said before stand by your brother and get him the help he needs. I understand the system, been there and know that most laws that is written today are for to keep Blacks in check, still young black continue to do crimes on each other.Police make them lay on the ground no matter if they are not in a criminal act.We need to find other things to do more positive and not negative. Some men will not listen until it is too late and one the cuffs on it is a different story, repaeat the circle needs to stop and jail cells empty not full. WE can talk our heads off it is up to them to change for the better, one other thing WHEN!!!!
