Obama Care not for The Poor

I was astounded tonight when I watched the CBS Evening News where it examined some of the plans that Obamacare would cover and their costs. The cheapest plan I believe was about $280.00 a month for an individual with a $10,000.00 Deduction Plan. This is no savings whatsoever for me. I now pay under Medicare and Medicaid $132.00 for a supplemental Plan G policy which just went up $10.00 with a $147.00 deductible plan and my prescription drugs except two cost me nothing and the other two amounts cost $2.50 and $6.50 respectively to refill. I only draw $927.00 a month Social Security plus about$320.00 a month from two part time jobs. My monthly living expenses are about $750.00 which only leaves me about $450.00 a month left over.

If I had any medical expense over $500.00 I would not have enough money left over to pay for it. Therefore Obamacare would not cover normal medical expenses for me.

Medicare for All would have been far better and a heck of a lot cheaper, covering all medical expenses for just an increase of 4.7% in your SS taxes--a real bargain indeed! Unfortunately it was not even allowed to be placed on the table for discussion.

If you are on the poverty level or below CALL YOUR TWO SENATORS, WARNER AND KAINE AND DEMAND THEY VOTE AGAINST OBAMAKILLERCARE!

The rest of us are sick and tired of paying your medical bills. Get a job that offers healthcare.

I, too agree with A Poor Man's Working Comments but he made a mistake in the amounts he listed in his article. Here is the transcript from the CBS Evening News Report. Here is the link:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-5760429...

":Bronze-level plans have high out-of-pocket deductible costs but very low premiums. At the bronze level, Dodson could pay as low as $94 a month, but his deductible would be $6,000.

"He thinks the silver level is better. That deductible goes down to $1,300, and while he pays $285 a month, it's still much lower than he expected.

"Watch: Health clinic workers go door-to-door to sign up uninsured, below.

"I thought it was going to be a little more expensive than what we're talking about now," he says. "I really did."

"But the biggest reason for Dodson's low premium is the system of federal subsidies. Dodson's modest income of $36,000 dollars a year qualifies him for a $179 federal tax credit -- a tax credit that brings down his policy from its true cost at $464 to what he pays --$285.

"The other good news for Maryland residents is that most insurance companies there will offer access to the state's best doctors and hospitals, including Johns Hopkins. That won't be true in some states where the cheapest plans will offer much smaller networks of providers.

"Seventeen states have publicly reported the policies and prices being offered on the exchanges. The nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation looked at all those rates and concluded almost all of the premiums will be lower than what was projected by the Congressional Budget Office".

I highly resent the comment made that all of us should go get a better paying job and insinuate he and others are paying for our health care. This simply is not true. Health care is expensive and everyone has to pay for it individually whether through private insurance or Medicare. Those lucky enough to have Social Security and Medicare have to pay premiums just like anyone who has health insurance. Fortunately the rates are lower for Medicare but if insurance keeps going up no form of health insurance, be it Medicare or private insurance will be affordable.

This individual is totally ignorant of people's circumstances in life. Many good, hearted, red blood Americans have done the best they could, trying to invest in plans that would take of their retirement incomes but found later they were destroyed by the financial chaos of a few years ago. All they had left in many cases was SS and Medicare, a true Godsend for them. I know one Right Wing Conservative who felt like the individual mentioned until she had operations amounting to over $100,000.00. Although she worked hard all her life and had good paying jobs she could not afford to pay her bill even after Medicare paid it. But medicare did bring the amount down somewhat.

I hope that individual has to experience a medical emergency whose cost exceed all his financial resources and see how he can afford to pay. Walk in the shoes of those whom you criticize. Maybe you will be a littel more compassionate. You probably hate ObamaCare which you should. At least appreciate what he wrote condeming ObamaCare. We need to unite on an issue where we agree and not turn up our noses just because you are not in agreement with everything he says.

Where the heck are you going to find a job with healthcare today? Obama has made sure no one will get a full-time job anymore. The idiots out there think the Democrats are looking out for the poor, when in reality, they are just making the socialist elite richer while the poor get poorer and the middle-class disappears. At least rich Republicans make jobs that all can get into and work their way up the socio-economic ladder(if you are willing to work).

Ya'll forgot the FEE if you DON'T sign up.

I'd like to see them try to extract money from someone who has no job!(ie, no money) What are they going to do, establish debtor's prisons?

All they can say is 'sign up; you'll love it'.

Being a Virginian, I stopped writing those senators. They are both Dems and wouldn't listen anyway; I've tried.

Raisin' Kaine is not a good idea. And Warner, I remember when he was Governor of this state. He did three things that made sure I'd never vote for him ever again:

1. Virginia Tech at the time had engineering slots available for students and they nearly LOST the department because he insisted on affirmative action and that female students apply. Well at the time none did. The University asked him to REPEAL the affirmative action idea; he refused.

2. Tuition skyrocketed under his administration.

3. To "save money" and "balance the budget" he closed the local DMV at least here for I think it was a week. That was VERY inconvenient for all. Did he cut welfare? NO, did he cut unnecessary services? NO, he cut an essential service.

I absolutely have NO use for these senators. So I save my writing for those that actually LISTEN; albeit from other states.

I agree. But I'm wondering what many are going to do now. Many full time jobs are going to part time so they don't HAVE to pay for healthcare. So you're stuck in a catch 22.

You're from WV....what the hell do you know. Repulican led legislation allowed those megs companies to get huge tax breaks to set up shop overseas. You need to blame those CEOs, which happens to be republicans.
