I'm trying to get some new ideas on Thanksgiving dishes whether it be an appetizer, dessert, stuffings, any sides to how you cook your turkey. I hope someone has a good recipe for Giblet Gravy. This will be my family's first Thanksgiving in TN and I hope to make it extra special for them. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

When I cook my turkey I always start by drying it off with a paper towel and then I brush it down with plenty of oil, salt and pepper. Also if you stuff your turkey don't pack it full of dressing only lightly pack it. If you pack it to much the dressing won't cook very well since it is only cooking from the internal temp of the turkey. You're better off fixing a small amount of dressing inside the turkey (to flavor your turkey)and then a full side dish of just dressing fixed with the turkey drippings.

If you are pressed for time that day you can use a box dressing and just add what you like to it. I have done that in the past. I just start with a mix of butter, diced onions, and mushrooms. Then follow the package directions..it's very good and noone will ever guess you didn't make it from scracth.

Hope that helps.

The only way to cook a turkey is to deep fry it, outdoors in a turkey fryer. It is wonderful & also gives the men folk something to do besides sit around watching football. It's simple, fast & delicious!

Corn Pudding is a great side dish. It will be a hit & become a tradition:
In a greased 2-qt dish, mix in order:
stick of butter, melted
2 cans shoe peg corn, drained
box of corn muffin mix
8-oz sour cream
Bake @ 350 for 40-45 minutes.

Hope your Thanksgiving is enjoyed by all! Good luck.

Amen to deep-fried turkey!!!!! We always cook 2, one for the family that gathers and one for leftovers for us. And once the oil is hot, family members can bring an extra one to cook and take home. Deep-fried is crispy, moist and mm mm good!
I love it because the men take care of that and smoking a couple of pork loins on the grill. What is it about outdoor cooking that makes men beat their chests and go 'me tarzan, you jane'? Thanksgiving has become my favorite holiday because my in-laws come and bring ALL the fixings, paper plates, drinks, ice, and desserts, and the men cook. All I have to do is make coffee and load the dishwasher. Oh, yeah!

This year I am doing something a little different with my turkey. A friend of mine has a smoker and he is going to smoke our turkey. I have never had smoked turkey before, so this should be interesting.

I'm a great cook and have a lot of ideas. But since you bitches made this a "no penis zone" I'll keep my recipes to myself. No wonder you only have a few post in over a week.

I started this forum. The reason I stated women only is because a few months back when discussing recipes...men were giving recipes for possum and squirrel. LOL. Sorry for the exclusion.

I went to the Macy's Thanksgiving parade one time only. We froze our butts off and there's no bathroom facilities unless you eat inside a restaurant. It's so much better watching on T.V. and no traffic to worry about. We had some Turkey's on our pasture a couple of days ago. My husband called our neighbor....ran around the house for his gun and by the time the two of them got it together....they were long gone. Only problem is I'll have to learn how to de-feather and gut it.
How does your wife make her stuffing?

That is not how you make Corn Pudding. It is corn, butter, sugar, eggs, and milk mixed together and baked.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
