My company is forcing us to use only Great Expressions dental in 2012 and I have no idea about them. Any comments good or bad? I know they bought Nanston last year.

Not very good reviews here. I went to Nanston one time and that was enough for me - from what I'm seeing on the web, Great Expressions aren't much different.

They advised me that between my two kids they had 11 cavities (they had been going to another dentist reguarly so I was shocked) they took me to one of there many financial offices to talk money. I took my kids to get a second opinion and ended up with only 1 cavity not 11; that dentist told me they are known for that kind of stuff.

Nanston blows: everytime I was there they would try to get me to have my wisdom teeth pulled. They cause me no troubles. I got a second opinion that said they were fine.
The most annoying part for me was after an appointment you had to go back to the damn waiting room and wait to be called back up to settle up. No respect for time. Last time I was there I just left after my appointment. They just sent the bill in the mail. Screw them. Go anywhere else.

I went there to get my teeth cleaned and they told me they wouldn't clean them until I had some kind of gum treatment! They Told me that I had 10 cavities and needed 2 root canals! I was shocked!!! I left there and went to get a second opinion. My new dentist told me I had only 2 cavities. These people at great expressions have lost their minds! I only hope that the people have more sense then to believe what these people say!!!!

HATE them. Same thing here with upselling, cavaties that don't exist, etc. My favorite part was when they kept billing the wrong insurance, so I tried to help them figure out who they needed to bill, they treated me like crap. I was just trying to help them get their money, cause I sure wasnt' paying for what was covered under my insurance.

So who is a good dentist? My husband needs quite a bit of work done and is having trouble finding someone to trust. Thank you!

I made the mistake of using Great Expressions Feb 2012. I had my bottom teeth extracted and a denture made. It took about 6 weeks for just a lower denture. I didn't know it at the time, but they send the lab work to Puerto Rico. I wish I had known. I prefer to keep my money local.
The teeth are way off. I have had to pay for a relign somewhere else, and am going to have to have the entire thing remade very soon. It will not be with them.

I fired them at the end of 2011 for amny of the same reasons.

These guys are like used car salesmen and are always trying to push sell on patients.

Stay away and if your with them, FIRE them! I did!

As asked earlier does anyone have any good recommendations? I tried Highland Family Dentistry in Hiram and they sound very similar to Great Expressions.

I realize someone brought this 4 month old thread back up, but if anyone ever considers using them and runs across this topic at some point - don't use them!

I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at Great Expressions and choosing them will likely forever remain a regret. I wouldn't even know where to start, but their mistakes cost me a lot of out-of-pocket money, and after over a year I'm still trying to get their billing mistakes corrected.

- Like someone else said, they are like car salespeople. They will perform unnecessary procedures that will cost you more money.
- They didn't do my crown right the first time, so I wound up paying for the second out of pocket (that's a quick $1k-$1.2k).
- Would not trust them whatsoever. I overheard the surgeon talk to the dentist in the hall about a patient that didn't need that $1k crown lengthening that she had scheduled them to have done. Oddly enough the same dentist scheduled ME for one that day. I wound up getting a second opinion from another dentist because I was suspicious, who confirmed that I did not need it, and they said that some dentists will just do it because it's easier on them (and surely more $$$$ in their pockets).
- They overbill, and you'll have the hardest time getting it corrected because they don't care. They won't return your calls or letters either, and when you go in they'll make sure to keep you waiting a good hour to see the finance department. Then they'll promise to sort it out and call you back, which - back to the start - never happens.

A good dentist in Douglasville? http://www.douglasvilledentalassociates.com/ ! I was super-impressed with them. Friendly, courteous, gentle. They have a great reputation, too. Wish I had done my research and gone there from the start!

'Cleaning' the teeth when gum (periodontal disease) is present is considered below the standard of care by law and MUST be addressed first. A good analogy would be painting a car for full price while rust is present and failure to address the rusting problem. After the rust is removed and the area restored, then one can paint the car. Sorry this wasn't explained to you properly. I have no idea about the cavities situation but not shocked.

Want to know how good or bad they are? Just look at who runs the front office.... Obamanites.

want to know what they are all about? Just ask the teeth cleaning ladies, especially the tenured ones.

It is bad!

I would recommend Dr. Vautin on Hwy 5 in Douglasville he is wonderful. I have however had a problem with his biller/office manager, I advise anyone to go over her quotes. I have dental insurance which pays 90% towards fillings and she tried to over bill me but since I ask questions about pricing I knew she was wrong on her figures.

Vautin's biller overbilled me for work as well back in August. They made me pay full price for some work because "your insurance doesn't cover this."

I was thinking "wtf it should cover 80%."

A week later I get a statement from my insurance company in the mail...they paid 80%.

Office never said a word. I had my wife ask about it a month later: they say they are holding it as a credit. Whatever. They should refund it. But he's still better than Great Expressions.(Btw my MD sent me a check today for being overbilled a month ago...that was nice!).

This company bought out the crappy company "Smile Care".They do the same junk work. You get what you pay for. They had no glasses to protect my eyes,i had sediments landing on my eye lids, they never rinsed my mouth unless i began to cough and point, they left the bad taste of glue and drilled tooth in my mouth every time they worked on me....my temporary tooth fell out 19 times until i DEMANDED them to use permanant cement on the temp until my permanant crown came in.this was the tooth 3rd over from my front.NEVER asked if i wanted it porclyn, big ass metal lined tooth.I said wheres the white style tooth???He CANT. Be wrong because hes the great dentist,so he argued that this was a borderline tooth that could be metal at times..WTF?...THIRD OVER? That should have been CLEARLY white based, not metal!!!!...I demanded a payment plan, because NOW it was 300 extra!!!...they sent for the new white tooth, and they went to put it in...and it broke. The next one came in and it fell out 2 months later.I waited 2 and a half months for a permanant crown, that fell out in 2 months time.Ive NEVER had the 6 molar crowns fall out,and they are put through more hell then a 3rd from the front tooth??i dont even bite apples anymore,i cut them.I was brushing my teeth when it fell out......i would go to my other dentist, but he was out of my network, and still cant go to another dentist, because Im in between jobs now,so im stuck with Forest F'ing Gump and his band of dill rods......DONT GO HERE....no bedside manner, know it all syndrome, arrogant, has to have the last word insulting ,stuck up,rude, personality of a dead alligator.
