If you or anyone you know have a child in a Douglas County school you might want to think long and hard about the services they are being offered and are they truly being offered those services!! I know of somethings going on at a local school where the teachers are being told by admin to make amendments to your child's IEP so that it fits their schedule and their reasoning for having a certain teacher in a certain class! IEP=Individualized Education Plan!!! Not well that don't work for our staff lets do it this way the parents will never know...this is a law that these schools must follow and they are not and many know about it. So if you know of someone who has a child or you have a child you may want to ask yourself some questions...I can see a lawsuit in this big time!!!

Can you clarify your concerns? I don't quite understand about certain teachers being in certain classes.

In elem and middle school look to see if the teachers are qualified and in what ares exactly. In HS look to see if they are using teachers in classes that have EOCT's or para's? And remember the younger kids have to pass the CRCT in certain levels to be promoted and in HS the EOCT's count a big part of their grades and can determine if a student graduates or not so I'm told. Oh and the county knows they will work on it " next year"!!!! There is more but I'm waiting on others to take notice and speak up and trust me they will!

You've posted twice and still have not adequately stated what your concern is. What are you specifically concerned about regarding Sp Ed in Douglas County? Or are you just another person bashing the school system and the people who work there?

Thought for you...you are making some STRONG accusations. Are you a parent of a special needs student, a concerned citizen, or a teacher in the school that you are referring to? Either way what are you doing to make the situation better? Or are you just spewing negativity across the internet and hiding behind your computer??

I'm pretty sure you mean ESOL. You clearly are not posting in English.

"EOCT" means "End of Course Test." They are given in the core subjects (Math, English/Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies).

Yes, the reason is because I had a child and I wanted to stay at home with him. I don't really see why that is relevant...I was just explaining what "EOCT" means because apparently some people don't know what it stands for. Just trying to help out!

Everyone knows what EOCT means. The original poster couldn't string together anything coherent in English.(The ESOL reference, which as a teacher you should know...) Perhaps school isn't your strong suit.

Since you originally quoted the OP's post referring to "EOCT's," I assumed you meant to correct that acronym to "ESOL." I do in fact know what ESOL stands for. Sorry for assuming you didn't know, as I'm sure you are sorry for assuming that I don't know what "ESOL" stands for, and therefore was a lousy teacher...

It can't be any worse than when I was in middle school in 2000. I saw a teacher drag a special needs kid across the gym floor at Fairplay. I didn't even see the guy do anything so it had to be verbal or a very miniscule tantrum. Parents neees to teach kids to report things like that authority figure or not. I didn't know back then :(. Q little off topic...
