cut and pasted from FaceBook with a couple corrections (IN CAPS AND PARENTHESIS):(I HAVE NOT DOUBLE CHECKED ANYTHING)

Something to ponder:

History Lesson on Your Social Security Card

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (and some older ones) didn't know this.

It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican.

Facts are Facts.(UNLESS YOU'RE A LIBERAL):)

Social Security
Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and
Card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION was removed.

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

No longer Voluntary

2) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65%(ACTUALLY IT'S CURRENTLY 5.65% 2% REDUCTION WAS "TEMPORARILY" STARTED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO)

On the first $90,000.(ACTUALLY IT'S CURRENTLY $110,100)

3) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

No longer tax deductible

4) That the money the participants put in went to the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General Operating Fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and

Under Johnson the money was moved to The General Fund and spent.

5) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed
as income.

Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away -- you may be interested in the following:

----------

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically controlled House and Senate.

----------

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

----------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.(WASN'T HE THE GUY THAT CREATED THE INTERNET?)

----------

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right!

Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

----------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is (CLUELESS AND) uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve.
But it's worth a try.

How many people can YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

And if you want to continue to be Clueless and Uninformed - keep getting your political information from Facebook posts.

Don't be like the Arrogant and Clueless poster above.

Here's an op-ed piece worth reading that explains the details of the Republican war on Social Security:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-h-biggs/pa...

Yes it's on Huffington Post. Get over it. You think Faux News would publish it? It's still very revealing and clear and truthful. Written by John H Biggs.

The truth is that Social Security would be just fine if Lyndon Johnson had not put it in the General Fund. Also Social Security Disability was added to further drain the fund.
Over 2 1/2 Trillion dollars in IOU's have been written by the U.S. Government to the Social Security Fund, which is really the General Fund.
Republicans wouldn't have to try to come up with a plan to keep it from going bankrupt if all the things that I have just described had not happened.
If you want Social Security to continue than anybody that can add 2+2 knows that there must be some alternative plans made to save it. If you don't like Ryan's ideas than think up your own and mail them to your Congressman and Senator. Mail a copy to President Obama if you think that would help.
I think the point that Bill made was that it was Democrats that have always hurt Social Security. The points that he listed are fact.

Your desperation is showing again. Seriously, it's been 2 weeks sinced your landslide loss and the death of the republiKKKan party. When are you ever going to get over it? But then, I guess I shouldn't expect someone with multiple personality disorder to be able to face reality.

Gee, you couldn't keep the civil posts going. Not surprised.

1. What is wrong or inaccurate about what was posted?
2. Your spelling is terrible, your lack of education (if you have one) is showing...
3. No, I'm not desperate. I'm retired (at a much younger than normal retirement age than normal), financially secure, healthy, what do I have to be desperate about? I'll be fine one way or the other...
4. Your last comment, in light of the opportunities you've had to be proven wrong, show your lack of maturity. Who would expect anything different?

Does it really make a difference who responds to your comments? Does it make you feel superior that you registered an id? So, if I go register does it give me the ability to know more about you, not that I care who you are?

Yes. I AM superior that I registered. No, you can't find out more about me, however, it DOES make you legitimate in regard to being responsible for what you post.

Landslide? Electoral College wise yes - almost always is due to the winner take all aspects in all but two states. Landslide in the Popular Vote? Never happened in the USA:

From the HuffPo:

Popular Vote

Total Votes
Obama 62,611,250
Romney 59,134,475

Percent
Obama 50.6%
Romney 47.8%

So 506 out of every 1000 voters went for Obama and 494 for not-Obama.

Obama won but 0.7%(866,000 votes) does not a "landslide" make.
