We only had one high school, cruised on Friday and Saturday nites, hung out behind the Dairy Queen on Route 40 (and keg parties at the Turkey Farms), Journey-Styx-Boston-local band called Church Street, Hot Rods, Football Fridays, Swimming in a farm pond, the Pizza Wagon, Miss (what was her name) spanish class...also graduated in '79 700 miles away from here. Difference is that place is just about the same, frozen in time.

Oh wow! I'm a '79 grad, too - Rockmart High, Georgia, 3 years at Cass in Cartersville. We had 2 high schools - Cass and Cartersville. Cass was for the 'rural' kids and Cartersville was for 'them city kids!' We cruised the Cartersville Plaza and sometimes would go to Dallas and cruise the Dairy Queen. Lots of muscle cars and customized vans with air-brush!!! Strawberry lip gloss, Coty Musk Oil, tight jeans, polyester tops, fluffy hair! Man oh man!

Here's a blast from the past:(Leo Sayer!)

When I need you
I just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so wanna give you
It's only a heartbeat away

We cruised the movie theatre that was on Fairburn Road. Remember the Cat's Den (teen hangout until someone decided to get stabbled)? Eating at the Fasteria after church on Sunday afternoons...I worked at "The Oasis" tanning salon on Sweetwater road and there was a game arcade next door that alot of teens would hang out at.

Anyone remember the Lithia Springs Pharmacy on Sweetwater? The owners were always rude to me and I always felt like they thought I was going to steal from them. Fact was, I was harmless, they were just rude to kids.

I loved Sunvalley and also went to Vicko beach when it was open.....not sure what is there now. Times were good then, when everybody knew your name.

I went to West Ga Collge in the late 70's
and early 80's. Mothers Finest would perform
there 2 or 3 times a year.
I really do not know why they didn't
do any better than they did.

Lordy, I think of Mary Hugh from time to time. I bet I know you too. Hanging out after the DCHS games on Friday nights at McD's. The movies on Fairburn Rd. The only theater I might add.
Remember Howard Heavner, Coach Cave, Bogo, Rod, those were the days. Remember we had driver's ed back then back behind the warren dorris. If it had not been for Coach Ruble I probably would not be driving today, because my mother could not get in the car with me without having an anxiety attack. LOL The good old days. We did have some good teachers back then at DCHS didn't we!!

I remember it well

We had a great time.
I was an aid for Miss Mac in my senior year.
She would let me leave school to get her lunch and stuff

Mr Clark's English was something else.
