They just want to sit on their ass and draw a government check to do nothing all because a black man is doing what they couldn't and would't do (run the country well)! They will all pay for it next election, and they wonder why america did not vote for a republican president !

Senate Republicans successfully foiled attempts to confirm Chuck Hagel for the post of defense secretary on Thursday, by denying him the 60 votes needed for the nomination to proceed.

Democrats ultimately came up short of the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture and end the Republicans' filibuster, with a final vote count of 58 to 40. Republican Sens. Mike Johanns (Neb.), Susan Collins (Maine), Thad Cochran (Miss.) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) voted with Democrats in their failed effort to end debate. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) voted present.

The nomination is hardly dead. In fact, it looks increasingly likely that Democrats will be able to muster the needed votes to confirm Hagel's nomination after a 10-day recess.

This is the entire article in case you KNOW BETTER than to allow "rightwing" to pick and choose what he wants you to know.(He should work for one of the liberal news outlets.)
At any rate, Hagel's nomination WAS blocked, however, he WILL get the nomination. Read the article for yourself in regard to WHY the Dems weren't able to get the votes, yet.

As one Democrat put it. "What more do you want out of this!" I think the Republicans want the truth and some honest simple answers to their questions. If this administration does that there should be few problems.

And boy is it going to be interesting watching TExas politics over the next 5-10 years. The demographics have changed and are continuing to change. The "good ole boys" are going to be gone and they are going to have Latinos, women, and Democratic lawmakers running the place. That will certainly be a shock for the Texas attitude. Interesting times, they are a comin to Texas.

McCain explained the GOP vote against Hagel. Hagel called the Iraq War for what it was - George Bush's folly--- before the rest of the GOP finally admitted that it was a waste of $$$$ and men and political capital. So they are mad at him for being right a long time before they were willing to admit it and they are going to show him they just didn't appreciate him being so right early on.

He would really have to do something off the charts to top Pelosi's, "We have to pass the bill to know what's in it." And you libs gave her a total pass. That is why you all are considered to be lunatics. Well, that, and loving Harry Reid. Well, then there is Frank 'n Dodd. You libbrains love them, too. Ahhhhhh......I love politics.

If a majority is the excuse for Obama, the same goes for the House, no double standard allowed.
