Just a follow up... 2 items that were stolen when our home was burglarized last October, have been traced back to us. I don't want to post any information that may come back and bite me in the ass, but I can say that one suspect is currently in custody in Cobb County. While I want to scream the d-bag's name from the rooftops, I will keep quiet for the time being.

From the amount and size of items that were stolen, it is indicative that there was more than one burglar involved. And it seems that it was a very centralized area of burglaries for a reason. Goes to show that the majority of criminals really are idiots. And I will concede that the Sheriff's Dept did indeed tell me on that day months ago, "It may take time, but we will find these offenders."

And slowly, but surely, the pieces are falling into place.

Last Friday, I opened my mailbox and pulled out a letter from the DA's office.

After reading the contents, I must say, I am pleased with the assistance, the actions, and the conclusion from the Douglas County Sheriff's Department in resolving the act of our home being burglarized in October 2011.

The majority of our personal property was stolen and never recovered. Every valuable piece in our home was taken; jewelry, electronics, software, piggy banks. And many sentimental things were gone as well; ultrasounds from both my girls, newspaper clippings 20 years old, social security cards, passports, birth certificates, high school diplomas. After processing a sense of personal violation and feelings of insecurity in protecting my family, a long road I add, my little family stayed strong and we came out smarter and more aware than ever.

All parties prosecuted pled guilty. They are:

*Jonathan Lanier Martinez: 10 years to serve 2

*Kenny Dewayne Wade: 30 years to serve 7; $19,975 restitution

*Jayquwan Ellis Twillie: 20 years to serve 3; $4,139 restitution

*William Lowery Mitchell, Jr.: 5 years to serve 12 months

*Monica Denise Mitchell: 2 years probation; $1,000 fine

This is public information. The case is concluded. It took time, it took patience, but ultimately, we have closure. Thank you so much to those of you that offered support throughout the ordeal, you know who you are.

The 2 items that were recovered? A broken CoolPix camera and my .38 special.

And if he hadn't been caught, it would have escalated. It already was. And sad that he was hardly more than an adult. AND that his own mother was aiding him in his criminal activity.
