Cuban posed a what if. Say for instance, an investment deal is put in front of him that has the potential for a short term profit return of a couple of million dollars. Never him or any friends he knows would say, "I'm going to have to pay 3% more in taxes if I take this deal and turn a profit so I'm going to pass on this opportunity."

That is where he said it was nuts to think that a tax increase would shut down investing. He said he would have never made his fortune if he operated with that mindset.

Interesting read:

A pretty good article except it did not go into any kind of detail of what these tax increases and decreases did for the middle class and the effects on Americas economy in each period that they changed and took effect. Did they cause more or less employment or did they produce more jobs? Were the actual workers better off or was their spending power down? Did these actions cause recessions? Wars must be considered also.
Again this article was one sided as it only talked about the rich which uses all the special tax breaks written by congress to avoid taxes. That is why everyone talks about the tax code being unfair, too large and that it should be changed. What huge breaks if any does the middle class or upper middle class get?
The rich may just hold onto their money when taxes are higher and shield it with our tax codes and not lose any money because they will not spend on things such as hiring or expanding or whatever. They just wait it out until taxes are lowered to really start doing business again which meant no job growth for the rest of Americans.
If raising taxes is the obvious answer to everything which makes our economy so strong than why did the government keep lowering them over and over again? Why did the economy really boom after tax cuts? If raising taxes doesn't affect the so called producers and the rich doesn't really care then why ever lower them again and again?

@Ronnie - perhaps you only know bums. Senior citizens are strongly represented in that 48%, as are military families. People pay into the Social Security system to help fund their retirement. They expect (and rightly so) that the promises should be kept. Military families give up a lot to serve the country. I'm sorry that you seem to have such little regard for both of these segments of our society. They DO pay taxes every time they buy items, every time they fill the car with gas, when they license the vehicle, etc. It takes a larger percentage of their income to buy the necessities.

Do you know the difference between income tax, capital gains tax, and sales tax?

Why are you people not advocating the flat tax everyone pays a certain rate no deductions, this sounds fair to me. Throw in a national sales tax and our problem could be solved. This would enable us to delete many of the jobs in the IRS and we all would determine the health of our economy.
Better yet, how about no income tax?

No fair asking tough questions to the clueless and uneducated.

However, maybe you could add in Boortz's favorite question to the "askee": "Can you explain the difference between profit and profit margin?"

Here's my favorite:

explain:

gross income
adjusted gross income
deductions/credits and the differences between them
taxable income
alternative minimum tax

and the grand finale: when determining someone's tax rate (like Romney's 13.7% or whatever it was) what numbers are used as the numerator and denominator?

DIVORCE AGREEMENT

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al: We have stuck together since the late 1950's for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a our separation agreement:

--Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

--We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them.

--You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

--Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.

--We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and the coal mines, and you can go with wind, solar and bio diesel.

--You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.

--We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street.

--You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens.

--We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks.

--We'll keep Bill O?Reilly, and Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

--You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.

--You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

--We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.

-You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

--We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and over sized luxury cars. You can take every Volt and Leaf you can find.

--You can give everyone health care if you can find any practicing doctors.

--We'll continue to believe health care is a luxury and not a right.

--We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem."

--I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya" or "We Are the World".

--We'll practice trickle-down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.

--Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete.

In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you might think about which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,
John J. Wall

Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin & Charlie Sheen, Barbara Streisand, & ( Hanoi ) Jane Fonda with you.

P.S.S. And you won't have to press 1 for English when you call our country.

More Chain-Email Politics? You Douglasville Conservatives just can't help displaying how droll and simplistic your tastes run, can you?

I hope it bores you as much as your over-simplistic babble bores me.

Just this last week we've had 2-chain emails and a Facebook circular foisted upon us forumites from you dull lads.

One day, perhaps, you'll grow up and be able to discuss politics.

I fear for these poor republiKKKan children. When Kneel Boortz retires in a couple of months, they won't have anyone to tell them what to think everyday.

Yeah. Like YOU are a real thinker. If it weren't for MSNBC and Chris Matthews, you wouldn't have a thought in your head. There you go again.....with your double standard.

What makes you think that he has a thought in his head? If he did he wouldn't have to keep copying and pasting the same things over and over.

How can they actually discuss politics when they want posters to take an economics test to see if they can be allowed to post - test graded by the synbilliles (that is all 3 of you or the three in one of you right?). I just love when one of the three of them "demands" that you answer a certain number of questions or give definitions. Because if you answer the questions (as many people have over time), all 3, or one three times pile on about how stupid you are. They are a hoot and it is fun to pull their chain and listen to the frothing at the mouth.

As a mom how can you even think of leaving your children with a bill that they will have to pay, as of today, everyone in the United States owes $58,000 to the debt. I know it makes you proud to pass that onto your children!

The Dems think that is just made up. They honestly don't want to acknowledge where this country is heading. For the past four years, such hatred has been propogated, that there seems to be little hope. Until the spending is brought under control and entitlements are reformed, the debt will just go higher and higher. Seriously, I don't think there is any way to stop this. I guess we'll just have to roll with it.
