NEW USEPA RULES REQUIRE RENOVATORS TO LEAD-CERTIFY BEFORE RENOVATING OLDER HOUSING:
EEA has received accreditation from the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to present two new courses for renovators conducting renovation, repairs or painting in housing built before 1978. This certification is required for all
home improvement that disturbs more than 6 square feet of interior, or 20 square feet of exterior lead paint, or presumed lead paint effective April 22, 2010.
The EPA has extended the effective enrollment date to October 30, 2010.
Those who have already completed a one-day Lead Safe Work Practices course or lead abatement certification are eligible to complete the Renovators refresher before applying to the USEPA.
Lead Safe Work Practices training alone is not sufficient to meet this new requirement.
