I understand he did this himself but come on NY State the guy had how many and you think it won't happen again. There needs to be drastic changes to the laws. The guy is a hardworking, taxpayer but has a severe drinking problem and can't leave it alone. I agree he is extremely lucky he didn't kill someone. Just seems to be a waste of a citizen who can be productive.

This is what gets me is how quick we as humans, tend to judge others. If any one person out there hasn't had a drink or two and got behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, unless of coarse you are a non drinker, it was a crime and in fact could of ended in the same out come as this person did. By no means should this of happened so many times, in some way I guess shows a pattern of a person with a problem that needs help, an addiction that is legal so like in this case others can profit from it, maybe that is why new York state does not want to step up to the plate to do something about it, loss of revenue? Not a chance.. What about the people driving while using meds? Or better. Abusing them? How many times can one do this? Is the out come the same? Let's not condem these people, better yet let's get them the help that they need, to make it safer for every one, and yes you will still get the revenue, someone has to be paid for the service..

surely the fellow has been offered help. you can lead a horse to water but can;t make him drink. some people drink till they die. some people kill others in the process. he may get some jail time out of this. 5 times is just plain bullshit. there is no beer in jail. its tragic.kind of like that crazy woman walking the streets of potsdam. no help for her either.its the system and it shits the bed.

He should have been locked up the first time. It Is absolutely amazing how many people in this town say 'everyone makes mistakes' when they hear about a DWi. Everyone does indeed make a mistake now and again but driving drunk is a selfish and potentially deadly choice. There is no excuse. A taxi costs a whole lot less than the fines and you cannot put a price on someone's life if there were an accident. He shouldnt see the light of day ever again. To the person who claims that he has always been a good guy: either youre an awful judge of character or you think drinking and driving is ok, meaning you should be locked up with him. North country wastes of life, time, and resources.

And to 'Non-judgement': I went five years without taking a sober breath and not one time did I get behind the week. Not once. Addiction is an awful thing, but stupidity has no cure. As for the pill poppers, lock them up too along with the doctors who over-prescribe them. This county is in a downward spiral and all we do is allow for people to get five DWIs at a time. Fuck sympathy. Crack down.

see this is a point I was trying to make in another post where the guy was arrested for forcible sexual contact, people are quick to damn those that get a dwi and want them to rot in jail for it (yes its illegal and thank god he didnt hurt anyone) but these other idiots that are arrested for melesting children and raping women get a slap on the wrist and have people that take their side and want you to not judge them, come on people. we all make mistakes, the guy obviously has a problem that should be treated and he just shouldnt be able to ever get a lisence again plain and simple.

A driver license cannot stop someone from driving. He knew he was committing a felony when he drove his car drunk. Why would a misdemeanor charge of aggravated unlicensed operation stop him?
