This isn't exactly the first thing I would say when I hear of people passing away from an accident...god bless all four of these people and may the ones who passes away rest in peace. Prayers going out to the families involved.

Canton-based state police said Robert Campbell, 78, of Canton and Robert Whalen, 87, of Norwood, were pronounced dead at Canton-Potsdam Hospital after their snowmobiles fell into icy water on Rainbow Falls Reservoir in the Town of Parishville.

Prayers going out to the families involved. When I made this comment, I had only heard that snowmobilers had broken through the ice. There was no information at the time about any deaths occurring. I do sympathize with their families. I know how painful grief is, but I also believe tragedies like this one could be avoided.

You should be ashamed. Absolutely heartless that you would be talking like this whoever you are.

From what the news said it sounded like they didnt know they were on the ice maybe?

Yes very sad but I agree people need to take caution when snowmobiling on or near the water its only common sense. I love snowmobiling and I am always concerned when someone gets hurt or worse. The other person on here was trying to open peoples eyes so it does not happen again. If I am wrong I apologize.

VD Breath wrote: <quoted text>They were on water...if they were on ice they wouldn't have sank jackass They got onto the ice at the wrong spot. They have camps on rainbow and they took their sleds over the ice dozens of times this year. The wind and snow that night made them disorientated and they ended up going from ice to open water.

Why do so many topix users insult others? And the name-calling! It's so rude and unnecessary.

I dont let trolls get away with calling me names thats the reason for my response. I find it interesting that you call me out on it when at the beginning of the post you were apparently impersonated to insult you Im guessing and you wasted no time retaliating. I didnt take offense, just saw it as you standing up for yourself.

I just hope when I'm 87 I'll still have the ambition to get off my ass and be one with mother nature like he/they did....doing what they loved to do.

Didn't care for his negativity and name-calling of you.
