I'm a registered Democrat but I don't vote party lines msbobbie, I'm too conservative for that. ;-) As for who I will vote for, there is a serious lack of information available from any of the candidates to form an opinion.

Yes, there is a biographical sketch published in the area papers, but I'm not interested in what church the candidate goes to or who he married. Qualification yes, but what about telling us why you are the best person for the job? What do you see as the priorities for the Sheriff's office? What specifically are you going to do to make Leflore county safer, more drug-free, and a better place for our kids to grow up in? Where do you stand on 2nd amendment rights? Where do you stand on "open-carry"? This isn't just a popularity contest,,, or is it?

Talisman, Oklahoma has closed primary elections. In the primary only registered Democrats can vote for the Democrat candidates. Since two or more Republicans did not file for the office I will not be voting in the Sheriff's race.

Laughing that is. Billy Shropshire is running for Sheriff! Vote for Shropshire if you want nonstop DRAMA in the sherrifs office. His wife would be a perminant fixture at the courthouse too. The day he becomes sheriff is the day I move out of leflore county. All the Shropshires do is talk shit about people.

Why would I want to do that? If I register as a Democrat so I could vote in the Sheriff and County Commissioner primary elections I would not be able to vote in the really important Republican primaries like the upcoming open U.S. Congress race in District 2.

Apparently you do not know the Shropshire's! Neither one of them talk about people nor do they like drama. They are both very good people and are willing to help any one. His wife is a full time mother and also has a full time job, she has better things to do than sitting around a courthouse all the time. Looks like you have the talking s**t about people covered!

Talking s**t is not what I said. I said drama. There is a difference.

Shropshire has been kind of hard to get hold of. I finally received a message that he will introduce himself at the LeFlore County Republican lunch on May 21 at the Pizza Hut in Poteau.

Time will tell if he deserves my support in the General Election. I really don't give a rip if the Sheriff has an R or a D after his name. All county office holders should be non partisan.

Talisman, why not go to someone to a group of people with a vast amount of knowledge about the candidates, their peers in law enforcement. These people work with most of the candidate on a daily basis. Don't ask them who they are voting for, but their opinions on all the candidates.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but I don't think the voters in this county should have to do as you suggest to find out where the candidates for sheriff stand on issues or what their priorities are. The candidates should be informing the voters. If they don't offer anything more than their church of attendance, who they are married to or how long they have worked in law enforcement, then they don't deserve to be voted for in my opinion.

There are too many people voted into office for the wrong reasons, voters have a right to know who and what they are voting on without every one of them having to personally dig out that information.

Personally digging out the information is exactly what they should do, and not rely on gossip and other people's opinions.

In my opinion, voters do not make near enough effort to be informed. That is evident by the low turn out at events where the candidate is featured.

There were only about a dozen people at the Pizza Hut on May 21, including the Shropshires and two other candidates hoping to spread a bit of their message to voters.

It is impossible for all of the candidates to knock on every door.

At any rate, Billy is the only Republican in the race and will not appear on the ballot until November. Kudos to him for stepping up.

Honestly, any candidate Alan feed ya a line of crap as long as you will listen. I want to know what their history is at their previous jobs and what they have done for their communities.. So whom better to ask?

As far as Bruce, his history within the sheriffs office has proven to be a joke. He is the most unethical Sheriff in the history of this county and maybe state.

He registered to vote in Le Flore County as a Republican in May 2011.

No voter history in Le Flore County.

I have to say I agree with you. But I also think candidates should be informing the public on where they stand on issues, through the newspapers or other media outlets. I wouldn't seriously expect door to door visiting..

Yes I do know both of them very well! I'm pretty sure you don't know them or you would know how good they are. If people want facts they need to meet him and his wife. Then and only then people will have the facts. They are both willing to meet with anyone.
