I'm not sure keeping track of them and making them register will do any good. The majority of cases involve family members so keeping them away from schools and daycares doesn't make a bit of sense if neices or nephews just come by the house anyway after school. Many times these sickos convince other relatives that they were innocent all along, and the relatives too often believe them.

You do realize that you can post a sign in his yard stating that he is a child pred. that is if he has been charged or is registered, You can post it in the middle and make sure you post his name on it also!!!!
You mean you can legally go onto someone else's property and put that sign in their yard? Can they legally take it down?

Don't forget to include the political party (asses) who support ripping apart little children and sucking them down sinks. The GOP party might have their faults concerning bigotry, but burning and ripping apart children is as low as it gets. That's right up there with molesting them. My God, murders on death row get a more humane death than that!!!!! I refuse to assoicate with either one of the main parties; I'm so disgusted with them all. Okay, I'm done.

I know its a waste of time, but what the heck. I will try to feed some real facts to the sheeple.
What you hear: "There is a high rate of repeat crimes among sex offenders nearly 100 percent."
What is fact: The Dep't of Justice, in November 2003, shows a 5.3% re-arrest rate, and a 3.5% re-conviction rate for sex offenders. Look it up yourself, by all means, please dont just take my word for it, that is what is causing this whole debaucle.
Fact: 98% of sexual offenses caused by a trusted person!
2% of sexual offenses caused by strangers!
Fact: More than 90% of all NEW sex offenses are committed by someone who has never before been convicted of a sex crime. How do all these draconian laws protect our kids from those?
Tell me the truth here. Would you rather know exactly where all the sex offenders are at all times, and that they are gainfully employed and have solid addresses (idle hands are the devils tools, and homeless or banished sex offenders are much harder to keep track of you know...ask your friendly local peace officer about that one) Humanity is not too far from the animal kingdom. That is an obvious fact that gets proven everytime you turn on the TV. When you push someone into a corner and there is no escape or no chance of ever rising above a scarlet letter, what motivation do they really have to "integrate" into society? This is what you get: John Cooey and others like him, and the record numbers of sex offenders that are absconding and dissapearing off the radar because the bar has been set so high that not only can the offenders never hope to keep up with it, neither can the law enforcement officials designated to keep up as well. What we need here is more common sense and less knee jerk reactionism.
Fact: Sex offenders that participated in rehabilitative therapy while incarcerated DID in fact show a higher likelyhood of returning to society after thier time was spent and DID NOT re-offend. Those that did not (ie, John Cooey--Florida stopped giving sex offender treatment programs several years ago in penitentiary). I would like to know exactly where they get their statistics that these people cannot be rehabilitated when all of the governments own statistical beureus say otherwise. Oh wait, they are getting the statistical data that shows those released from states where SOTP's are not given. OK, makes sense now.
You're right; people need to start thinking more. I am convinced that this sex offender hysteria is our countries modern day witch trials. 50 years from now, folks will be looking back at how we handled things and think:: "how stupid could they be". Does anyone remember McArthysm?

Sex offenders need much more punishment than they get. This is oe reason why they do it again and again.
If we severed a body part each time they offended,I believe some othe pedophiles would think twice before carrying through with this heinous act.

Wow!! You are definately the king of the idiots I was talking about in my last post. Harrassing people to the fullest because you have passed judgement on them without even knowing them. Never even said a word to them but you are going to try and make theyre life miserable. I'll bet you call yourself a good christain and all that to! After reading your post I am going to go out on a limb and say your probably not an educated man. Yet, you know these people so well. You are so familiar with the inner workings of their mind that you can determine they can not be curred. That they are just weird human beings.(or in your words werd human beings, it's ok it is a long word I understand) I am sure you are the envy of your trailer park and all, but why dont you stick to things you know like steeling cable or something. By the way did I mention I am a sex offender!! Well I am. Why dont you come punch me to the ground.
I stumbled upon this site trying to find resources..See, 15 years ago, my brother raped my son in Midland, Tx.(My baby was only 6) My son is now 23 and making an attempt to recover. The weird thing is.....An uncle molested MY Brother when he was young, and never had to spend a day in jail. This man moved and now lives in Broken Arrow, OK. His name is Sonny Crist.Humm....Mabey YOUR him

Ok and there is your Queen. My name is john im 30 years old & I have never lived anywhere but Ok. But you just proved my point. Since I am on your stupid list then I must be capable of something as horrible as raping a six year old. In a nutshell, I was a 24 year old horny guy (like most guys at 24) I met an attractive girl in a BAR!!!!! A week later we went back to my place and had sex. I take her home and find out she is 16. Did I mention I met her in a BAR!!! Now people like you treat ne like a monster. I sure hope you have a good defense for that when God asks you why you passed judgement on me. I see you share your kings spelling. By the way its maybe. Not mabey.

I have sat and read this entire forum tonight with great amusement. I have worked sex crimes for many, many years now and I supervise sex and violent offenders. I offer a few Oklahoma facts for the consideration of the forum readers: 1) offenders can only be forced o register as a sex offender for a conviction of a sex crime, 2) there are currently two different classes of sex-offenders, those that require a semi-annual registry for a period of ten consecutive years of registry following the completion of their sentence and the other is considered an aggravated or habitual offender that requires registration every ninety days for life, 3) According to the recently passed Adam Walsh Act, that classification will change to three separate categories of offenders by 2008. 4) All sex offenders are not paedophiles and all paedophiles are not offenders (This will take an entire new discussion probably). 5) Sexual offenders have the highest recidivism rate of all criminal offenders. 6) All towns and counties may enforce restrictions harsher than is required by the State of Oklahoma but may not be more lax than Oklahoma law. 7) All sex and violent offender registries are open to public viewing. You only have to ask, or view a website. 8)Offenders do have certain rights when pertaining to caring for their own custodial or guardianship children. Each offender must adhere to the judgement and sentencing rules given to them at the time of their conviction. 9) The percentage of homosexual sex offenders is no higher percentage wise that the number of corresponding hetrosexual offenders. 10) All sex offenders have a story and there is always three sides to every story...(my side, your side, and what really happened.)

Since this is my first post, I will stop here. I do work with sex and vioent offenders daily and I would be glad to assist this forum with facts. If you want the resources, I will gladly provide requested links for you.

Well. Read it slowly. You do not have to sexually offend with a child. You can sexually offend with an adult.OK.
Many paedophiles have never touched a child sexually. They may have had posession of a child sex video. Easy really.

It is a wasted arguement, to try to talk to the sheeple who fall for the whole sex offender hysteria being pushed by vote and power hungry politicians and the media that tags along with them for headlines and ratings. They ravenously feed upon the natural fears of parents to push thier own agenda, uncaring of those who fall into the collateral damage category. Sheeple don't care about any true facts that prove them wrong. They see only the "facts" fed to them by their shepherds, which are more often than not misleading or outright lies. The lies are easier to believe. It is human nature. Tell me how the new laws in our brave new world have saved anyone? How did it save Jessica Lunsford from Cooey? He was an RSO, and they admit to the fact that they "lost" him...could it be because they are overwhelmed with the staggering # of sex offenders on thier registries, which makes it easy for the real boogeymen to slip thru the cracks? If I am not mistaken, Megans Law stated that the registry was to be for only the most violent and habitual sex offenders (who by the way, why were they even let out into society if they were deemed to be such a threat in the first place? Keep them locked up and our problem here would be solved--no registry needed). Or could it have anything to do with the fact that each state gets funds for EACH REGISTRANT LISTED--FACT! SO wouldnt it be more profitable for the states to have more rather than fewer RSO's? So broaden the definitions and add more and more to the list. They wont tell you this you know, that sex offenders are thier favorite people...they are making big buck$ off them in the states and for all the companies that provide tracking technology. Someone is getting filthy rich, and guess what...you, mr./mrs. taxpayer, are footing the bill. Say Baaaaaaaaaah!
Thank you for some sanity...it is a given fact that nobody in their right minds cares for a sexually deviant person bent on harming innocent lives, we can all agree on that .....but this hysteria we are experiencing in this country is causing it's own set of problems such as those you mentioned ie: the states being paid for each registered offender, it's like the public school system being paid more for each learning disabled child....all of sudden we are seeing more and more children put in those classes. The incentive is financial. Another problem we have created by the new sex crimes laws in regards to longer sentences is it creates an incentive to kill the victim. If the molester knows he will get the death penalty or a life sentence there is temptation to get rid of the witness to the crime increases. Also the requirement to register is forcing offenders to go underground and not register because they cannot find a place live within the legal requirements. We are trying to protect our most precious citizens and a lot of the laws are backfiring.
There needs to be a sane and studied approach to the problem. The rate of repeat offenders of crimes committed within families is 3%. I believe John Couey was arrested 26 times for sexual offenses and all the registry laws did not stop him when he kidnapped and killed Jessica Lunsford.

Good explanation Rodswann. Paedophiles love children. Children are their ideal dream of a sexual partner. Just because a person's mind may put them in this mindset, they also many times realize that our society says that morally this is wrong and that is often enough to prevent them from proceeding to carry out the actual crime. Sadly, many paedophiles are also offenders.
Offenders, on the other hand, have a variety of preferred sexual partners and methods of their ideal sex date. Men that prefer the sexual company of an adult female, will most unlikely be interested in a child. Therefore, they are an offender, but not a paedophile.
If you are watching the offender sites in your area, see if they tell what age and sex the victim was. Another good thing to check is if the relationship of the offender to the victim is also given. This will give you a pretty good picture of who the offender targets as a sex partner.
Next question...???

Again, paedophiles are not offenders unless they commit a crime. Merely having thoughts (which can and does place them in the slot for paedophile) does not mean they act on those thoughts.
NAMBLA is not based in the United States. Other countries have other societal morals than we do in the United States. What we consider a crime here, is not necessarily a crime in another county.
