And LeFlore County has the worst investigative team in the state!!!
A friend of mine from LeFlore County was shot in the head, lived on life support for 2 days. Her hands were bagged at the scene to perserve any gun powder residue because her boyfriend said she shot herself. Autopsy revealed that there was no gun powder residue and the angle of the shot was impossible for her to accomplish. MURDERED....and they let him go, closed the case; it is now considered a COLD CASE and shoved it in a filing cabinet to rot. She was 16 years old.
My late husband had a saying..."When the Dead in Christ rise, I want to be in LeFlore County. No telling who is gonna walk out of those woods."

I hope they can I.D. the body, so the family can have closure. Does anyone work on the cold case files? Maybe some cold case volunteers can do what has not been.(take the time to do a through investigation).

You want scary? Have you ever been to LeFlore County? I'm sure there are hundreds of dead bodies in the woods down there, most of which will never be found.
****, I knew a guy who died in a plane crash in that area, and they didn't find the plane for over a year. It's a very big, very densely wooded county.
I don't know which is thicker- LeFlore or Pushmataha...they are both scarey places that don't take to well to outsiders!!

I've lived in LeFlore County my whole life(except when I went away to college) and I'm proud of it. I'd much rather be here than okc or tulsa. Now that I have defended my county, There hasn't been anyone reported missing around here except for a young man from Clayton, Ok (which is about and hour or so away)He went missing several years ago.

I understand your love for your county- and I really, really can appreciate it! I think when you are country at heart- then the "big city" is a nice place to visit- occasionally! BUT you have to admit- it is really, really THICK woods. I don't know much about it except that it is THICK woods. And after a day of Tulsa Christmas traffic- I wish that I was in those woods! Merry Christmas!

I lived in Leflore county growing up and usually make it back that way several times a year. While the woods are as pristine as ever the human population has changed. It wouldn't surprise me if this was a hispanic individual that may never be identified.
Back when I was a teen, and it was still legal, we would go to the islands on Wister Lake looking for arrowheads. Once we uncovered what were obviously human finger bones...covered them up and got the heck out of there. I guess when they made Wister Lake they didn't realize or didn't care that they were flooding Indian burial grounds. Now if you go out to one of those islands or hang around the banks and aren't fishing, the game rangers will usually pay you a visit fairly quickly just to give you a friendly reminder that it is illegal to pick up artifacts.

they also flooded several small communities when they made the lake, They relocated some grave but there is noway they could have gotten all of them. A few years ago a woman did find some Indian remains in the lake(she stepped in to the mouth of a skull) while she was swimming.

i was a cop in wister for 2 years and i have to say that some of what you guys are saying is right really right when it comes to the wister p.d the are a bunch of jackasses and if left up to them they will never i.d. the body but most of lefolre county is not that bad, in southern leflore county anythang past wister has no law at all i am talking of leflore and summerfield which is probably where the body came from being theres not a hole lot of anything but crackheads and people like that that come from there chances are down here if somebody ends up floating with the fishes they needed it

dont ask sounds bitter, btw there is a whole lot of county south of wister, you might want to take summerfield out of that and insert wister. I know some damn fine people from both places so dont knock on those two towns just b/c of a few crack heads

This is not the first time skeletal remains have been found in that area. We usually never hear any more about it after the first report.

There are old Indian burial grounds all over the county, many unmarked. Not to take away from the other things you guys have said about LeFlore County.

For all of you making comments on southern Leflore county, some are correct and some wrong. I live here and have for the past 20 years, and I can agree with the person that stated there is no law. I have had the Sheriffs dept remove my wild pigs out of a pen and haul them to the sales barn ? Sounds like stolen stock to me! Had a situation several years ago, called the Sheriff, was told a deputy would call me, been about 5 yrs, still waiting for that phone call, reported some funny weed I found close to my property was told to keep my mouth shut because I didnt know whose it was, duh I didnt care deputy, thought it was illegal. I guess since they can steal pigs out of your pen and put them in a trailer, after dark, and take them to the sale barn , a little weed dont matter but I heard someplaces it is illegal. Hope our new Sheriff is on the up and up
