This single wind turbine was expected to generate nearly 50% of our town’s power whiles serving as a colossal example of what many skylines could look like years from now. Today after three years the 366 foot tall structure sits on this highest point in town, right next to the high school and in full view of residents traveling down Route 24 sits idle and broken down. About 40,000 cars travel by the broken wind turbine every day .

The turbine is a giant fiasco and total failure. The most shocking part, the nearly three million dollar project had a gear box failure that the wind industry was well aware of back in 2004.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization of commercial wind turbines and has been reviewing gear box failures since 2004.

The Portsmouth Economic Developement Committee studied wind turbines from 2004 to 2007 and missed all negative aspects of the gear box failures and in addition paid $25,000.00 to an outside contract company for a twenty year feasibility study on the broken down three year old turbine . How come it only lasted three years?

The turbine had been shown on National Geographic and CNN news dedicated 7 minutes of news time to the brand new wind turbine back in 2008.Today if you look for the National Geographic video it only says Ooooops the site you searched for has been removed !

Riley travels to Portsmouth, R.I., where residents are setting up a 115-ton wind turbine that will provide years of clean energy. The constant blowing wind will fuel the rubine, but how do you raise giant blades in the midst of these unpredictable winds?

The Portsmouth Rhode Island wind turbine a catastrophic blunder ! The $ 3 million dollar wind turbine needs millions in repairs !

Local residents fell for a bunco scheme of enormous proportions. Local politicians and residents failed to do "Due Diligence". March 2013 is the four year anniversary of the multi-million dollar rip off of local taxpayers.

The turbine made over $400,000.00 in the past few years but the operation and maintenance costs along with a multi-million dollar bond payments have left local politicians red faced pointing fingers at each other for the giant mess.

The liberal press won't be holding a birthday party this year ! It's going to be tough to sweep a 400 foot commercial wind turbine under the rug . Even if it's no good it will cost thousands just to take it down for the scrap yard !
