Tracy, yes, I personally know Betty and her adoptees. She takes in the very worst cases. Not only horses. Everything she has and makes, goes to the horses. She helped me with one i took in, that was abused. She has an amazing way (gentle) with them. Mine is actually with children now.. loved and ridden! When people can't tend their stock, they just turn them loose. Folks call when they are found near death. Check out old Portsmouth newspaper to see pics of sad ones that she has saved. She is always in my prayers..as is the fool
that said she is nuts and a joke. Shame on that person.. donate some hay or do ANYTHING constructive for a change.

I'd say, to settle this, Tracy should go see for herself. With over 40 horse, you will smell manure. What do you expect? She is crazy? yes, about living creatures...all. Even you. Yes even some wild ones. But you do not have your facts straight. You are just another topix crap spreader. This forum does have some valuable imformation. But it also has people like you. You even questioned her knowledge of horses. That tells me to pray for YOUR stock, if you really have any, which I doubt.

I agree I have bought two horses out there as well the property is out of control , Betty don't believe in giving any of those horses shots she told me they don't need them so someone that loves animals and says that is crazy she has told me so many different stories it's unreal the two horses I bought she first said they were 7 and were papered then I bought them and she said they were 11 with no papers. Also she said feeding them grain is not good that's not true anyone that knows anything about horses know that grain is not unhealthy

"its true" or "wanna know" or however you like to be known, There is a process in ever getting a horse from there. I doubt highly that you would be a candidate. About the grain..do the math and then remember how free range horses live. Do you think there are grain fairies? And those shots...she does vaccinate and it isn't cheap.
From all of us that know Wild Horse Rescue: shame on you. Also, get a hobby.(other than topix)

I know Betty,She is the best person you would want to know. Her heart and soul is with every horse out there.Name me one person that would take all the time they have to care for all the horses thats half dead when she gets them. She puts her money in them. She is up and down all hours of the night with them. She does vaccinate.I have seen her save alot of horses.Never turning her back on a horse that needs help.If you people really care,Get her some money out there and help her find homes for the horses. Its all Betty doing this work no one else.

Betty Gomez, I am glad to see another person with real info. All you said is so true. She is a NOT for profit! My husband and i do try to give financial support. Never enough. Wonder when she ever had a day off!! God bless you. I hope Betty never looks at topix. Even lies hurt.

We were going to get a horse there but they wanted to retain ownership for the first year and they wanted the right to check up on the horse. They also have a paperwork process and they have to approve you worthy of owning a horse, plus check out where you will house the horse to see if it meets with their qualifications. Checking on my set up and checking up on the horse didn't bother me but them retaining ownership after us paying for the horse did bother me. When I politely mentioned this, the lady got hostile. I don't know her personally, maybe she was just having a bad day, but I didn't deserve that kind of treatment.

We instead contacted our equine vet and he led us to a lady who had Registered Tennessee Walkers she needed to find a home for. We took two of them (the mare is my profile picture) and we couldn't be happier. They are wonderful, gentle horses. The best thing- the were FREE just for us giving them a good home.(Course, the horses were free but the hay, grain, etc. isn't.) Horses cost the money to take care of properly.

It is good she takes in and rehabilitate's horses. We've done a little of that ourselves in the past (not as many as she does) and it's no easy feat. I just didn't like the "they retain ownership for the first year" part.

I agree with everyone who stated that the property is in horrible condition. I have seen the property first hand, and I do not understand how she is able to recieve grants and maintain her 501(c)(3)eligibility. She says that someone from the BLM comes out every so often to check on the horses and ensure that they are being properly cared for-they must have gotten lost and inspected someone elses farm instead. The manure and urine is knee deep, and many of the horses have worms. She stated that they only need to be dewormed a couple times a year, when in fact; a horse should be dewormed every 6-8 weeks. She also stated that she does not vaccinate any of the horses on her property due to the vet (Dr. Carr) told her that vaccinating is not necessary "in this area". Are you kidding me? Anyone who is knowledgeable about horses would know that many diseases that horses can contract are airborn. That in itself is enough of a reason to vaccinate the horses, considering that there is always 35+ horses crammed onto 13 acres. And FYI, Encephalitis is contagious to humans!!!(Eastern Equine Encephalopathy (EEE) and Western Equine Encephalopathy (WEE)) This disease is transmitted to horses by Mosquitos, as is West Nile which is also contgious to humans. I am well aware that vaccines for a large amount of horses can be expensive, so is grain, hay, floating teeth, ferrier services, etc...If it is too expensive to maintain proper care, and there is a lack of funding and volunteer help, then the "rescue" should be shut down. With or with out the 501(c)(3)not for profit status, she will continue to hoard horses. She does not focus primarily on abused and neglected horses, she simply collects horses. She goes to BLM auctions and purchases wild mustangs on a regular basis-these are not abused or neglected animals!! They are wild!! One day someone will flip on the TV and see her on the television show Hoarders, surrounded by horses and dogs (which she also collects, and they are also in horrible condition).

The simple fact that you pray to some imagined god and put yourself out to be holier than thou......PROVES you are an ignorant and likely a not too good of a person..........aLSO likely a liar and a crook.....like all inbred hillbilly jesus humpers.

Now......... turn the other cheek....love me and give all your worldly possessions to help horses and poor people. REMEBER....JESUS IS LOVE!
:-p

lmao....

Besides......... I used to live close to this person....the place is a filthy mess, they can not properly take care of the animals & I suspect the person is likely mentally unstable ..hence why they do what they do and in the manner it's done.

IMHO
Someone knows
