Shame on Portsmouth City Schools and other districts not dalying school hours because teachers & administration want "their vacation time" uninterrupted!
These younguns stand waiting, cold breaths, frozen fingers and toes!
While the teachers and upper echelon drive warmly to work.
Morning school delays have no bearing whatsoever on "vacation time."

No, they shouldn't wait. Their parents should take them to school or they can walk like the kids used to instead of using taxpayer money to haul them around. I walked for years and it didn't hurt me.

Do like I did. Wait at the school bus stop with them in a warm car or take them to school.

Most of the people that go to Portsmouth don't have cars.

I see nothing wrong with it. Obviously, the School doesnt either. When i was in grade school, i would stand out 5 below somtimes, and when the bus finally did arrive, the heater wouldnt be on or it would be not working.

Get real. Tax payer money pays for kids who take buses but some parents rely on it because they WORK! My kids go to clay now I'm supposed to make them walk down 23 from scioto trail. Not all kids are in the vicinity of their school.

Yea, why do we have to stand in the cold. It is cold in the mornings when I am wait out side for my ride. I would walk by my mommy and daddy will not let me. Yes I play all the time outside in the freezing cold. But I am just playing. School I set there and do my work and if I am good my teacher gives me candy and treats. Sometimes my teacher gives me a pop.

I work and don't rely on the bus to take my kids to school. I take them myself, rain, shine, cold or snow.

The "old" days are over people...the times are different. It'snot the uphill 5 miles both ways story anymore. These lil ones stand freezing waiting for a bus or walking to school. It's not morally right. It's not 1982 anymore.

Fuckun morons on here living on welfare, heating assistance, Foodstamps, and live on Topix stir shit!!

the recession moron. Some ppl don't have a warm car..but parents do walk the children to the bus stop or to school.

Obviously u waited at a bus stop, so your most likely single parent didn't have a "warm car" for you moron.

Think before u comment

I've got an idea.... Be a parent & dress your kids appropriately. That is not the school systems responsibility... Cause I guarantee you people that are complaining, sure do send your kids out after school & on the weekends without hesitation.
Wake up idiots & be parents....

I did think before I posted. I am not moron either and not a single parent. Maybe this suggestion will not insult your intelligence, Have the school vacations in the winter instead of the summer. Losing one hour of education is not a reasonable solution.

New flash for ya. Life ain't fair. Shut up bitching about the weather and adapt to the environment. You probably cried about the cold in front of the children thus teaching one more life lesson. That is if it is hard then don't do it. What the hell do you think the folks in really cold areas do? They accept the fact that it can get cold where they live and they dress for the weather. You make me sick. You are exactly what the hell is wrong with this country. Go blow yourself.

I grew up and went to school in the 70's. During the blizzards of 77 and 78 Portsmouth was out very little and New Boston was out hardley at all. I think it got just a little colder then. Try minus 0 for weeks on end. There were kids walking to school then too. I gues they did not have the sense of entitlement that some of you folks have. A little cold weather won't hurt any kid that is dressed right. Really you all should look at your responsiblities as parents and not blame everybody else including the school districts. But hey I'm from an era when parents parented, worked and set a good example. Guess I'm out of place on a thread like this. Good day.
