Hi, we just got a litter of savannah cats. We have four and will give them away to go homes. We have enough animals at this time 6 cats and 4 dogs so its quite busy round here. We do home checks before we give any animal away because we gave a dog away when we first started taking in animals and we later found out it was used in dog fighting. We feel so bad about that, and the dog had to be put down so now we do homechecks and make sure they are going to a good home. Take care

Sounds aweful fishy, are you really scoping out the house to see what you can come back and steal?

Yeah, nobody gives away Savannahs...I HIGHLY doubt anyone in Scioto County even owns one. Also, what's their F category? This sounds EXTREMELY fishy, I agree with "not clueless". Maybe you should give them to the person that received the free home from Sincerely Sincere.

I'll take one of the cats if you bring it with you when you do the homecheck and I can keep it afterwards.. Do you have any paperwork? Email me at moosy_moose2010@yahoo.com

sounds like they are def trying to pull something.

http://www.a1savannahs.com/savannahs.htm

That link shows you how much a Savannah costs. I know about savannahs, my daughter has wanted one for quite some time now but even she says they arent worth the expense. Esp given the extremely special care they require. They cant have normal anesthetic for any surgeries. Many cant eat foods with grain in it and you have to have certain vaccines for them because other types might kill them. I dont care how "special" someone claims an animal is, I dont allow a stranger to walk into my house and nose around.

I know some of what I said isnt exactly what that site says but several breeders differ on what they say is best for this breed of cat. Better to be safe than sorry when looking into an exotic breed.

Just because humans can do soemthing, doesn't mean we should, imo. Savannahs, Ligers, etc etc etc are hybrids created only for human use.....we can't even provide decent homes for all the stray animals, so why breed more? I do understand that people are attracted to the wild, to the exotic and, of course, to the dangerous.....but they are NOT pets and also should not be used as breeding stock for hybrids to be used as pets, imo.

The link below will take you the website of an organization dedicated to providing homes to rescued wild cats.....including a Serval named Elvis (the wild part of that Savannah Cat) that was dropped on our driveway in the middle of the night...that's what exotic breeding/greed lead to all too often.

http://www.carolinatigerrescue.org/

And, if you are ever in Pittsboro, NC please come visit....we have tigers!(because yes, some people thought they could keep a 500 plus pound carnivore as a pet!)

I have decided people get exotic pets for one reason....the attention they garner.

Yes, they get attention, but to be fair, these animals are very beautiful and I do see the attraction......there's a reason the place I volunteer at has so many big cats....people REALLY think they can keep these animals as "pets"......not to say some folks can't do so safely and humanely, but again just because you can doesn't mean you should.

As for the hybrids, it just makes me sick to think of a wild animal like a serval being kept in captivity to breed/make money off of and, imo, it should be illegal.

I have 2 Savannah cats and I can say with certainty no one gives these animals away. The price tag ranges from $1000-22000, so use common sense! About the care I wanted to comment on they do eat a food w/o grains but it's not much more expensive than any premium cat food. Also, for F1 & F2 raw meat is recommended. Also, no special shots required since most vets use non living viruses now.

Comparing savannas to liger's is just ignorant. That's like saying a Bengal hybrid to an actual Bengal tiger. It just sounds ridiculous. Hybrid cats are just large high energy house cats. Purebred maine coons are large and can be rambunctious but you don't see ignorant people demonizing them. Just like any other cat, and maybe more so, they need a lot of attention and training. That's why the make not just such great pets but companions. If people can't devote time and energy to a new member of their family then they shouldn't get any animal in the first place. People want as lazy an animal as they can get because they themselves are lazy. Just because you can't handle being a responsible pet owner doesn't mean you should try to screw up a beautiful experience for the rest of us.

That is pure ignorance........have you ever seen a serval? its a very wild animal, dearie.....a nasty tempered one at that.....do some of the hybrid kittens make good pets? yes, but some do not.....in fact, I have personally met one that was to be euthanized b/c he would not socialize and their are many others out there......personally, that one got lucky and was rescued by people trained to take care of him properly.

Either way, behind every hybrid is a wild animal in a breeding mill and that alone is enough to make me and any other TRUE animal lover oppose hybrids...its not about a "beautiful experience moron, its about not forcing wild animals to breed for profit so people like you can fool themselves into thinking living in a cage is a great thing.

Btw, a Maine coon cat is DOMESTICATED......so please, get some type of education about wild (non domesticated) vs animals that have been domesticated for thousands of years.....omg.......

I posted this a year ago... no idea why it's still around. Okay so I gave away all but one of the litter. Sadly one of them lost their life :( Anyways, I don't have them anymore.

are you all crazy? they will turn on you like all animals can. My goodness please do not have one if you have any children around. these people are up to something, i'm sorry but that is how i feel. they could be one of the craig list killers, you never know. i have never known someone that has these kind of cats give them away for free. just be careful.
