I have read many of this guys comments. Here is what I have observed. According to the DSM IV-R, which is the manual that Psychatrists use to diagnose mental illness, this person is obviously a Narcissistic personality disorder. Generally one needs to meet three to five of the criteria to qualify. Here are the nine criteria of a Narcissistic P.D.

1) Have an overinflated sense of your own importance and exaggerate your achievements and talents.
2)You spend hours fantasizing about having unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or the "perfect" romance.
3)You are convinced that you are so "special" and unique that you should only associate with other special or high-status people and institutions.
4)You require excessive admiration from others.
5)You feel entitled to getting special treatment or feel that others should automatically comply with your expectations.
6)You exploit others in order to get what you need for yourself.
7)You are unable to recognize or empathize with feelings and needs of others.
8)You are constantly envious of other people's achievements or possessions.
9)You are arrogant and haughty.

People with this disorder are blessed and cursed with an extremely inflated self-image and a strong sense of entitlement that makes them insensitive to the needs and feelings of other people. They have an exaggerated view of their own skills and acomplishments and devalue others execpt for the chosen few included within their narcissistic bubble. The preoccupation with how others regard them results in a constant need for attention, admiration, and recognition. They are hypersensitive, easily bruised, intolerant of criticism, quick to feel hurt, and to counterattack when they feel the slightest bit unappreciated or humiliated. They feel they have a touch of greatness and should associate only with other individuals or with institutions that share an equally special status. Interpersonal relationships are one-sided and problematic. Others see you as arrogant, selfish, demanding, cold and aloof. They have no patience for the everyday civilities or small talk and expect others to be fascinated by their opinions, but become quickly impatient if they have to suffer through hearing others. They have little reciprocal interest in other people's feelings and are oblivious to the fact that their offhand comments may be hurtful. A man with this disorder might unwhittingly boast about the good health he has recently been enjoying while visiting someone suffering with cancer.

From reading his posts on topix, I think he meets just about every criteria.

They only treatment for this disorder is talk thearpy, but the person with a personality disorder rarely admitts he has a problem.
Well, after reading this I think I might also be afflicted with this. Do you think I would qualify for government assistance?

Diagnosing the users of Topix with some kind of mental disorder based solely on the words they type would be a full time job and highly entertaining. I'm thinking OCD for a lot of the individuals who actually attempt to do it. And bipolar would be another favorite among users. Oh, and those suffering from depression who aren't even remotely happy - well, unless they're trying to rip someone else down to their own emotional level. You're right, this site is probably a psychiatrist/psychologist's wet dream.

Oh, and just for the record - I think self-confidence and intelligence is highly attractive, no matter the magnitude at which it manifests itself.

I know MM irl. I can pass out labels too. I guarantee he does not meet all of the classifications to be labeled with this dx. Eat a cookie.

Secondly, the underlying pathology of NPD is low self-esteem. If you treat the esteem, it can dissipate. Eat another cookie.

I love it when people unwittingly, publically admit that I have hurt their feelings.

99% of the people here that don't like me have a few things in common.

1. They make excuses for others.
2. They believe emotional arguments are valid.
3. They get butt-hurt easily.
4. They clearly spend a disturbing amount of time thinking about me.

If you post some BS I am going to attack it. If you can't back up your BS I am then going to attack YOU. If you come looking for handouts I am going to attack YOU. If you think you deserve more than you have I am going to point out that you control your own life.

Virtually everything I post revolves around those principles.

You fantasize about me getting "discharged" to make yourself feel better about your failures in life. Further, in your twisted mind you have actually deluded yourself into believeing you have the power to make that happen.

You are a sad person.

So you know he's a liar and a fantasist right? If pretending to be a soldier to try and get people to give you more credence isn't a sign of low self esteem then what is?

Martyr machine has been claiming to have been in afghanistan for over two years now. How long do you think tours in afghanistan last?

Servicemen in afghanistan have limited internet access which they mainly use to skype friends and family. So do you believe he steals other peoples internet access to he can post every day but has no friends or family to talk to in all the world? Hence him posting daily on topix and not skyping.

He claims to be an adult but he named himself after this:
http://www.stickdeath.com/martyr.html

Honestly, if you really think martyr machine is in the armed forces and serving in afghanistan then you're a retard of the highest order.

On the other hand if you claim to know him in real life then chances are you're the same guy posting on another profile to try and back up the only worthwhile thing in his life, the fantasy identity of a soldier he portrays on topix.
