The city crew did fix leak. Had call Boone Coleman to use big track hoe because too deep for a normal backhoe to reach.easy to dog people out when haven't a clue to circumstances. Like pipe dropping 20 some feet under two 64" sewers.

64" storm I believe. Dresser as you refer it lol is called a Maxie not a dresser!!!!! Dresser covers a bell end of a pipe. Maxie is used to combine a piece of pipe to another. Their also is two new 45's and nipple to go under sewer. Milking overtime??? Effedintly you don't realize the more you make the more Uncle Sam gets? So we pay more than our share of taxes trust me. 6 figure salaries? You really must be high or stupid.imstead of posting things you haven't a clue about next time stop by water break and tell us how you believe it can be done faster or better lmao

Lol no not asking city or no one to pay our taxes. That's just crazy. I am just stating fact no one milking overtime because after 20 hrs most goes to taxes anyway. I personally work because its my job and I take pride in it. If you stopped by the hole you would have seen much more work involved then what the average passer by sees. A new 24" valve also installed for later use why the road was already blocked off. Far as dirt in line any time you turn water off or isolate area it has nothing to do but get stirred up. That is why hydrants were on to try keep it to a minimum. We do have maps of systems but some things weren't put on maps years ago not our fault. Also valves there are old so have be worked a lot to get water off and not broke. Far as signs go I don't work that dept. but will say people never follow the signs correctly any way because everyone always in a hurry to get no where. I understand you might be concerned citizen but I guarantee it was done pretty damn good under circumstances. Most water works employee seven from past say this worse break they've seen.

It cost what it cost to have the break fixed in a timely manner. They could have waited till the next morning to begin repairs and worked 8 hours a day so the employees weren't on overtime just to save a little money. They could have rented an excavator big enough to do the job instead of having Boone Coleman bring in one to save a few dollars. Would this have stopped you from complaining? NO, you people would complain that it took them too long to fix the break, and it kept you from from having water for another day. Not having water closed down a lot of businesses costing them a lot of money. Citizens couldn't take showers or cook meals for their families or do laundry.

The city did what they had to in order to get water service restored as quickly as possible which was the most important thing. Anyone with any rationality would know that EMERGENCY SITUATIONS ALWAYS COST A LOT OF MONEY! Stop whining and worry about something else.

How dumb are you people ? The city dont own a backhoe that would dig deep enough to get down to the break. Thats why they had to have Coleman bring in that trackhoe. You bunch of pill head idiots think you can do any better then pull over and get your lazy welfare @ss out of you junk car and try it yourself. Most of you people wouldn't know real work if it hit ya right in the face

TRUTH ou are an idiot. Former mayor Greg Bauer and his brother swindled taxpayers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars with trash trucks with murals on the aides. Portsmouth could've had an excavator.

Wooden water mains? Yes sure old ones out of use in ground. But has nothing to do with recent water break? Far as guys there long enough to know where valves are bet your ass their are. Problem is sometimes no matter who you are it's only smart to look at maps. Anyone there for any amount of time can tell you what side a main lies on but doesn't show you all the tie-ins. I've been city quit few years and these old timers you refer to also looked at maps in certain areas. I personally can shut off most streets if u see the valves and worked that area enough. People always want to blame someone. But that's fine I'll still get up do my job best I can "which is pretty damn good" I'll still come out in middle of night if have to to help fix a leak. I'll still miss certain things in my families life because its my job. Bitch all you want. Because I know I'm great at it

Evidently you are the idiot because their is still money being swindled ! You think I don't know what's going on. The name of this thread is how much did the water break cost the city. You people blame the workers and their just doing their job. You are probably one if the welfare trash that wants to b1tch and complain but don't wana do nothing to earn your check. Lazy d@mn welfare trash b@stard. The city workers done all they could with what they have to work with. Like I said before if you lazy welfare trash think you can do it any better the pull over and park that junk your driving and get your lazy @SS out and try doing it yourself. Ya dumb@ss
