I feel that all of you are not seeing the real issue at hand. If these kids were in different high schools it would be a different story, but they are not...these kids are elementary students and are playing sports that are in a peewee league!
Not allowing the schools to play sports together when they DO live in the same community seems ignorant! It has been said that the kids who are not considered to be part of the Sciotoville community should be a Trojan, well what about those kids who have to walk to their practice or don't have transportation to Portsmouth??? Have any of you thought about this? Have you thought about "what if this was my child"?
I was raised in Scioto County but have moved in the last 4 years, I coordinate athletics where I live now and would never consider doing something like this.
All of you need to stop attacking Ashley, stop thinking about money (because, face out...Scioto County has none), and put the kids first! They are our future, and they are the one's who are being hurt!
You don't live here, then but out!

We have been doing the right thing for years, we are helping the kids at our school! Our community is divided! and it will stay that way. We all have our own agenda, and our is to ensure OUR children play!

I think it is very accurate to say that sciotoville is a mess! People who are running things are slackers, and if you call them out they change their story. SEA is a charter school, its held to different standards than public schools.(How about educate your people first and than worry about your community sports!) why, with knowing that would you send your kids there? Why, with knowing they do not have any legitimate insurance would you want your kids to play sports there? Think about it? They dont have a "real board" no "real coaches"-volunteers, no real potential! why would you waste your money and your time? The rumor was the money was stolen over the basketball season, then it comes out that it is true. IF they had a handle on everything or anything there would have never been a chance for one penny to be stolen! Now that I think about it things at this school have always been shady! and Joe Collins, and Bill Shope and their "Click" because lord knows they have no ties with any one else in the surrounding counties, think they can run things but the truth is, they can't. I was told that they thought they could start their own baseball team, what happened? haha they had no way of pulling it together, and they actually thought they could stand up and have their own rules, and their own way. well good luck with getting your pants sued off! when a child falls and breaks their arm. hope all the parents who have issues with transporting their kids and from what Ashley makes it sound like, are neglectful,(because lord knows none of these parents step up and attend their children's practices or watch them when they are not at practice, built in babysitting!) paying hospital bills if your child is hurt.-- if you don't have the medical card
I know that Joe says he has football insurance, and I do believe him on that. He wouldn't risk a kid getting hurt, and having no coverage. And I know there was basketball insurance. I believe I still have a copy on my computer, and others can vouch to that as well. I can look and see if I still have it if you want. And if I do I am more than happy to meet with you and show it to you. Just let me know :)......And I am not trying to be rude at all, so please dont take it that way. I appreciate your willingness to speak out!

OMG, stop talking about football and start talking about fixing East's academics and hiring policies. You could probably also give some thought to why a school district hired the likes of Dennis DeCamp. The man had sexual relations with a student, forced mandatory prayer on students, etc. He may be gone now, but the fact that he lasted as long as he did speaks volumes about the problems with Sciotoville Community School/East/Whatever.

Dennis's fling was with You-know-who. She was all fine and dandy with it until her kid didnt get picked, then she got mad and threw him under the bus. I doubt seriously he forced mandatory prayer on the kids. He may have prayed FOR them, but didn't make them pray.

Dennis DeCamp was the initial one to step up and write proposals to get the charter. Just because his lil tramp got mad and blew it out of the water, doesn't make him a bad teacher. Sleeping with a student yeah, BUT she was more than willing I'm sure.
East is not that good ONE? Really yet the pee wee team has won the super bowl, plus made it to the last play off game how many times? Seriously though it's PEE WEE football. wow. And shut down the school? Why? That school is the one place a lot of those kids feel safe, and actually get meals and love. Because YES those teachers there LOVE those kids like they are their own. I've seen first hand that love. When your child hurts or falls below his/her potential those teachers step in and help lift them back up. They are LOVED and they welcome you into the school/classes anytime you would like to. EPE doesn't make you feel very welcome at all. My kids went there before SEA opened and I NEVER felt welcomed. They always make you feel like you are bothering them or just annoying. SEA welcomes everyone with open arms. GO blue!!

Ok... Tired of seeing this thread and how you people that claim to be Sciotoville Citizens are getting on this website and degrading our town. Being associated with this website not only makes you illiterate, but it makes you a D-Bag. I find it funny that a member of the board is getting on here religiously to defend herself and position. Not only does that show Ashley is not fit to be on a governing board, it shows she is a D-Bag as well. For all you "Shopeaknights" you should all known that Bill Shope is nothing but lies and false promises. That SEA school should of never been built. It was only opened to line a few pockets and stir up some ruckus. If that school was to be shutdown I think a few people in the town would be relieved. That school has done nothing but divide a great town that sticks together through thick and thin. F SEA and that lil mob because eventually some true Sciotovillians will take over that town and turn it back into what it was before. A town not divided!

Are you people actually defending a school employee sleeping with a student? Wow. Regardless of her reaction, his actions were an abuse of power. What if it was your kid? And yes, he did force mandatory prayer on students before school.

Call me what you want to call me. But to make it clear, I was only on the little league basketball board. I have only posted on 2 forums. This one, which I chimed in because I felt people needed to know what was going on (I am standing up for people of this community) and not only on here!, the other was because people was relating a drug petition I started to the thread; which I had nothing to do with! It has nothing to do with any one particular school, I think schools should drug test their staff...period. If I am bad for standing up for people or for what I believe than so be it! Maybe more people should learn to voice their opinions, its the only way that anything will ever change!

I went to East. We have a Bible Group, that did pray before school. We had a flagpole prayer that was OPTIONAL I was in class/school with Dennis from 6th grade until I graduated. He never imposed prayer on anyone in my time there. He was an amazing man/teacher/friend. Not agreeing with what he did in his past but on that note, morally he may wrong but he is/was a damn good teacher!

I have spoken to students who felt DeCamp pressured them into praying at the flagpole. Mandatory or coerced prayer simply doesn't gel with sexual misconduct with a student. Yes, people make mistakes, but that's the kind of "mistake" that typically prevents educators from EVER being employed in any sort of educational capacity. This community is stunning.

You are right. The student is a grown woman nOw. It happened when she was 17, and he was like 20. She held it over his head and when he got tired of her blackmailing him, she squealed like a piggy. Yes, almost 30 years had passed, but she squealed none the less.

It doesn't matter if she's 150. Sleeping with a student who is below the age of consent is a crime period. Referencing why it came out, etc. is like saying "I know I robbed a bank and got away with it, so now I shouldn't be prosecuted because it happened 20 years ago." If the spelling and punctuation you fine East graduates use is indicative of your East education, no wonder half the students have IEPs. Praying for your ignorance.
