Hi I am currently on suboxone and wanting to get off of it. I have an appointment for the Vivitrol shot coming up and I was wondering if someone with first hand experience, or knows a lot about it could help me with some info on it. I want it to help prevent me from relapse and help change my life. I do not want suboxone to be a replacement drug so I am really considering getting the shot. Has anyone had side effects? will it make me sick? I know it will be different for every person, just needing some advice. Thank you

I've been on vivitrol for over 8 months now. It saved my life. If you aren't opiate free for 4 to 7 days before you get it, you WILL be the most dope sick you have ever been. Ever. And there is NOTHING that can make it stop, except time. But for me, that's what worked. I don't even think about getting high anymore. As for the side effects, I experienced insomnia for the first week(slept 2 or 3 hours a day), but after that I was back to my normal self again. I recommend it for anyone who is truly serious about being clean. It DOES NOT get you high. It is an opiate blocker. If you use while on it, you either don't feel a thing( if your lucky), or instantly back in withdrawal again.

Actually jerkoff, I got addicted when I was prescribed the poison for a serious injury. The doctors and pharmacy company's fail to tell you this when they prescribe them to you.

Take suboxone to get off oxy's ,vivitrol to get off suboxone. What's next. If you people want to get clean, quit. Until then your just replacing one drug with another. Oh, and let me guess, suboxone doesn't get any of you junky's high either, Lol. I've heard it all now.

Whats wrong with you? no one in this topic is wanting or talking about getting high. Do your research, vivitrol does NOT get you high, its an opiate blocker. Now why would I want that if my intentions were different? Ill admit, I used to have the same opinions as you did about people on drugs... Until my dumbass tried it. But that's no need to get on a topic someone is legitimately asking for advice for about a medication that doesn't get you high, and state your ridiculous assumptions. You have a right to your own opinion, dont get me wrong. However, keep it to yourself or post it in another topic that shows people wanting/looking to get high. I can go down the list of the Portsmouth forum and clearly see a lot of topics that are sad, dumb, and just proof that unfortunately a lot of people in this town are disgusting drama. If its not about drugs its about sex. I do not want to replace one drug for another, I want to quit and help prevent relapse. Dont you undereducated people understand? If it was so easy to quit and mentally overcome the drug, people wouldn't lose their lives to this crap. Do some research before you go and assume and state your ignorant opinion on something you have no idea about. As for anyone else, please spare the dumb bullshit and if your dont intend on replying to help, just keep to yourself.

Thank you for giving me some advice. I will be quitting suboxone 10 days prior to my appointment. Can you explain how it works mentally for you??

I didn't use suboxone before I got the vivitrol, so I used opiates up till the day I got the shot, so I was very sick when I got it. It was the worse feeling I had ever experienced, and I think the fear of being that sick again is what keeps me from EVER wanting to use again. I was warned about the vivitrol causing depression, but in over eight months I hadn't felt depressed at all. I am now able to hold down a job, and live a normal life. I had tried the methadone clinics, and suboxone in the past, and it's just replacing one high for another. Didn't work for me.

Thanks for responding. I have been just needing advice on it. I will be quitting suboxone 10 days before my appointment. I am expecting to feel some discomfort, however how does the shot work when you are 10 days clean off suboxone? I know it prevents my from opiate use, which is wonderful, but will I continue to be sick?

Tell their ignorant asses off. They are the first to bash anyone who has honorable intentions. This town is full of morons that think they know everything. Give them a chance and they would bash the Pope! Good for you. Proud of you.

If you were an RN then you would know that if it were that simple to just quit and go about your life then I would have done it. You would be a little more educated about the topic. Please, never have I once wanted nor asked for your sympathy. Now run the fuck along. I dont wanna waste anymore of my "dtuggie breath on you. Being a RN doesnt mean anything when you dont know what the hell your talking about... If that were true then it just even more justifies how SOMC or where you claim you are a "nurse" at doesnt have the brightest crayons in the box for employees. I feel bad for you... So bad that Im gonna let you have the last word... Since Mr. RN has nothing better to do with his time but get on Topix, change his name, and be ignorant. Go ahead honey get the last word in so your arrogant ass feels better. Have a great day Mr. RN.
