The band is back in town, but they are not playing at the loft; they are playing at an open air theater close to the lofts.
You can go downtown and see the marque on the theater promoting them. I saw people milling around outside smoking on friday night while the band played "inside."
It is so loud because there is no roof on the building!

You need to get your facts straight.

Great to see and hear some activity downtown! Want to complain about the noise???? How about putting a roof on the Portsmouth Raceway Park???? Now there's some real noise. Portsmouth is finally coming alive with activity and not drug activity. Thanks to those who are working to bring Portsmouth back to life!

How do you figure on the posting from my laptop? I wasn't on here friday evening, but I do have a phone that I could post from. But I had other plans, so no, I did not stop there.

Hmmm... so a business opens in Portsmouth, starts looking like it's going to make some money, and then gets hammered by the City? Face it folks, the City does not want business to return to the area. If you only knew half of what they do to prevent jobs and investment in the area you would blow your top.

Is peace and quite for the very few that live in downtown Portsmouth better than entertainment for all who want something to do in this one horse town? Do you think we can talk the Loft's people into sharing
Portsmouth with us?

That music coming from the Columbia is NO WHERE near as loud as Portsmouth Raceway Park and those cars can be heard all over the city.

The Loft's people are using the city parking lot. So are many other people using the municipal lots. They belong to the city.

Let's try to revive Portsmouth, not destroy it anymore than it already is.

Let's welcome people and businesses, take a lesson from New Boston.

Portsmouth used to be a vital town, let's make it that way again. It should be a DESTINATION not a Destitute town.

Another thing they are doing is with the cable, they have already taken Ch.5 off of the air soon the Columbus stations ill be gone then ONN..They say its because we are in the West Virginia advertising Market..City council controls the contract with the cable company,if so lets get another carrier,we have mor in common with Ciny,Cols,Dayton or even Cleveland than we do Coal Bucket West Virginia even Ch.3 is controlled & tripe!!!

The FCC Washington decides what market any given area is in. I would prefer Columbus stations, too, but local governments don't control the FCC. Satellite companies, such as Dish and Direct follow the same rules and have no choice in that rule, either. You are assuming the Portsmouth City Council is gleefully rubbing their hands together at excluding Columbus and Cincinnati stations from local Time Warner cable? They're too busy squabbling.

Actually, the guy who has the lease and agreed to televise the meetings stopped showing up to the meetings and now only shows paid commercials. Go to a meeting yourself, you'll see there isn't any TV coverage, just people from the PDT.

I don't hate or like the Columbia; I've not yet had a chance to go there, it wouldn't be fair for me to judge. I was simply repeating the rumor I'd heard why the residents of the Lofts don't like the Columbia.

In terms of local stations, another cable company would have to carry WV stations, too, instead of Columbus or Cincinnati. I am not assuming anything, but stating a fact. I think the FCC is wrong, but they don' t take the wishes of citizens into consideration. Another cable company might provide better service, though.

But-but-but everyone on the forum is always right!! It's where I go to know what boy from Portsmouth is the hottest, which family is the worst, who has an STD and when someone absolutely, undeniably, irrefutably jumped off a bridge.
