With the election tomorrow I decided to post this. I've only recently finished college so I know how important money is when going. Here is something I noticed that Romney said in his Presidential debate againt President Obama. Romney said this pertaining to education .....

"I don’t have any plan to cut education funding and grants that go to people going to college. I’m planning on continuing to grow, so I’m not planning on making changes there.”

But yet previously this year he said he would either shrink the Department of Education or consolidate it with another agency.

He said he would eliminate the American Opportunity tax credit for college students.

“Pass the House Republican Budget proposal, rolling back President Obama’s government expansion by capping non-security discretionary spending below 2008 levels.”
-- Romney (Education is considered non-security discretionary spending. Rolling back non-security discretionary spending to the level of five years earlier would require significant cuts in education.)

“Unfortunately, like a man with a hammer that sees every problem as a nail, President Obama’s policy response to every education challenge has been more federal spending. Increased spending on our K-12 public schools has failed to produce results, and increased spending is already one of higher education’s greatest problems."
-- Romney

“... as a result of the expanding entitlement mentality, the Pell Grant program — the foundation of the federal investment in student financial aid — is on unsure financial footing… A Romney Administration will refocus Pell Grant dollars on the students that need them most and place the program on a responsible long-term path that avoids future funding cliffs and last-minute funding patches.”
-- Mitt Romney

In the last quote, which students does he intend to cut from the Pell Grant program? Most Pell grants go to students with a family income of $30,000 or less, which isn't much. These are people for whom climbing up the ladder to higher income success is a struggle. The maximum annual grant amount of $5,550 isn't much either. Who is Romney going to cut?

Remember Romney mocking President Obama for wanting to hire more teachers?

While Romney was Governor of Massachusetts fees and tuition jumped 63 percent from 2003 to 2007 as Romney slashed state funding. The average student debt in Massachusetts jumped 25 percent while he was governor.

"They (students) get as much education as they can afford and with their time they’re able to get and if they have a willingness to work hard and the right values, they ought to be able to provide for their family and have a shot of realizing their dreams.”
-- Mitt Romney (June 27, 2012)

As much education as they can 'afford'? What the heck does 'afford' mean? Does the above quote mean low-income, poor kids, and middle-class children of parents who have a lot of bills do not get a chance at college? That college is only for people with a lot of money?

According to Romney, if you want an education you can always join the military. He actually said this as part of a statement on higher education. And this statement is from someone that grew up rich, lived in a house rather than a dorm or shared apartment, and did not have to work because he was living off of stock returns while in school.

I caught this in one of Romney's statements regarding cutting students from Pell grants .....

“...as a result of the expanding entitlement mentality, the Pell Grant program — the foundation of the federal investment in student financial aid — is on unsure financial footing."

"...as a result of the expanding entitlement mentality..."

There is that 47 percent thing again.

It's proof Romney thinks even students and their parents are part of his 47 percent freeloading deadbeats.

Why should poor, low-income, and middle-class kids be in the same college classrooms with the kids of rich parents, right, Mitt? No one wants their college age children associating with or even seeing members of the lowly 47 percent of America's citizens, right?

Students at voting age, parents of students, relatives of students ..... vote Democrat.

Teachers ..... vote Democrat. Give your students a chance at receiving a higher education and breaking the chain which has held so many families back in inner cities and rural areas.

Please watch this video. It's only one minute long.

Notice in the short section showing Romney he mentions teachers in a plain manner than reveals his plans will cut teaching jobs and education.

Turn your speakers on.

An Obama for America ad uses a big number to attack Romney’s record on school funding in Massachusetts, saying, "In Romney's first budget, he cut $248.7 million from K-12 education." "Romney’s first budget" sounds like a proposal coming from the governor. Romney actually proposed a modest increase in state K-12 spending categories and larger cuts elsewhere. The $248.7 million in education-specific cuts reflected primarily the work of the Democratic Legislature in a time of serious financial crisis that predated the governor

Politifact can't be trusted. I was debating with a guy & we both showed pages from Politifact on the same question & mine said true while his said false. We checked each others pages & they were by 2 different Politifact researchers & both come up with totally opposite findings.

I like how Romney said if kids wanted to go to college & couldn't afford it they could join the military. Romney dodged the draft by fleeing to France to get out of going to Vietnam. Does a bullet shot in Vietnam kill someone faster than one fired in the middle-east? Romney thinks so.

Romney was a rich kid that didn't have to work his way through college. He has no idea what it takes for a regular middle-class or lower-income family and their son or daughter.

A whole lot of people depend on things like Pell grants to get their children into collage. A lot of people in poverty-stricken places like Appalachian Mountains wouldn't have had a shot at college if not for them.

Colleges and universities should not be only for the rich and privileged.

Franklin D. Roosevelt had this to say.

"The school is the last expenditure upon which America should be willing to economize."

My favorite is .....

"If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."

He didn't dodge the draft. I see Obama didn't do any time in the military either.
When Obama gets time invite him to your house for dinner and see how much he cares for you. This is the most stupid childish thing I have ever heard. There has never been a president that cared for the individual person.
The military is the best place to get a college degree. Why do you knock it?
Do you think Obama had it so hard growing up ? You better read his story again. He was from an influential financially rich family. He was never poor.

I have heard there is also a fake one, but this one is not the fake one I used. it is no secret that Romney had a Democratic Congress in his state. The state is still a very Liberal state. What it does prove is he can work with both side and work out the problems with both parties, unlike Obama which won't even talk to the Republicans. It has to be his way or all hell breaks loose with him or he just shoves what he wants through like the Dream Act for one thing. Congress had voted on this 3 times, he lied AGAIN, and said they wouldn't work on it so he just got his little boy panties on and busted the Mexicans free himself. He needed votes we know.

Yes, Romney 'did' dodge the draft. Poor and middle-class kids went to Canada ..... rich kids headed for places like France.

Are you seriously this stupid and do not know what a deferment is? It is not illegal and many religious people use it. You might be more familiar with the Jehovah Witnesses. None of them go either. He worked on his mission in France, just like Elizabeth Smart did when she went to France for her mission.

Many boys went to Canada to dodge the draft yes they did and it was not legal for them to do so. But Romney did not dodge the draft as they did, he had a deferment which is much different and entirely legal.

I'm familiar with the Mormons. They do not oppose fighting in war. The Book of Mormons has passages which state it is alright to fight and kill in wartime.

Also look up a few things such as the Mountain Meadow's Massacre. The Mormons are not shy about fighting.

Attempt to make all the excuses you wish. Romney fled to France the same as the middle-class and poor headed for Canada.

You are fully right. Romney took off to France and used a religious deferment. Only the Mormons do do oppose fighting in war.

But in one of his speeches he tells young people to join the military if they cannot afford college. He's a hypocrite. He tells kids to do something he refused to do. Something he was afraid to do at the same age.

He intends to cut education.

Students, parents of students, and teachers, vote against Romney.
