I am hoping someone can help me with a question: does Sumner Co. Call a hearing to review child support w/ out either party requesting it? There is no past due support or arrears, non custodial parent is current on payments. Custodial parent gets assistance from govt.
I am just curious, and can't find the answer anywhere else.

If the custodial parent is receiving assistance, ex; food stamps, family's first, medicaid, tn care, etc. I believe when they initially go on these services it is required they open a child support case, and not real sure but they will every so many years do a re-evaluation where they pull income records to see if there is a change in income, for them to modify I believe there has to be % of change before they will request a modification to the courts. Hope this helps.

It does, thanks. There hasn't been any substantial % change and the cs has been the same for the last few years. We are being told that the state decided to do this, and I wanted to see if I could find verification of that.

(7) Revisions to the Child Support Schedule.

(a) The CS Schedule will be reviewed every four (4) years by the Department, as required by
Federal law, and revised, if necessary, to account for changes in the Basic Support Obligation
due to tax changes and/or to account for changes in child rearing costs as reported by the
Consumer Expenditures Survey conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and to reflect
authoritative economic studies of child rearing costs. If significant changes in tax laws and
child rearing costs warrant, the Department may review and revise the CS Schedule prior to the
regular four (4) year review.

THIS INFORMATION WAS FOUND HERE, AND A GOOD REFERENCE REGARDING CHILD SUPPORT. Good Luck!

I have been having trouble getting my child support from the non custodial parent and it seems all they do is just write it off. He gave his rights away and my husband adopted them and all he owes is back child support, but it seems that it doesn't matter to the state if he pays or not.....just venting

honey, I have talked till I am blue in the face. This has been ongoing since 2005. My husband pays his child support. But if something happens and he gets a little behind, they are on him like crazy. I just dont understand this system. Not only that her pays more for one than what I am SUPPOSE to get for two. They dont even give him credit for the kids we have at home. Just dont understand how some people gets everything handed to them and some get the boot.

I don't know about your situation The Truth, but I know from my perspective I agree. My ex hasnt paid me any child support in over a year. It always seems that he just gets a smack on the hand when we go to court. He signed his rights away for my husband to adopt because he didnt want to pay. But in robertson county they threaten everything to get them to pay. I just don't understand why it is so different for each county when it is a federal law!! It seems like for those dads that do right, see there kids, pay their child support, and try they want to throw the book at them, but those that don't care, they just let them do their own thing. I have always said that they should let the kids draw their ssi so when they get older they have to worry about taking care of themselves because they didnt want to help take care of their kids. No, I am not a women that uses my kids child support for my luxury. When I did recieve child support it was their money and I used it for clothes, shoes, or things they wanted. I don't look at it like some women. No matter if I have my children or not I have to pay rent, electricity, and water. So, why take away from them for that. Just saying....

If you are dealing with two different counties or if non custodial parent now lives in a different state/county than all was gone through their may be an issue where they (counties/states) aren't working together. I know from experience that when more than one entity is involved it becomes cumbersome to get one hand to work with the other. Have they tried an attachment to income taxes?

My sons dead beat dad hasnt paid childsupport since he was 3 and after 5 yrs of nonpayment the childsupport office dropped my case.said that they couldnt find his dad and said if I find out any info on him to contact them and they would reopen my case.My son is now 13 and has been raised my his step dad.I thank god everyday for that man,it is a shame that some men can make a baby but are to sorry to raise them. And the childsupport office is a JOKE.They are so hard on the men who do take care of there kids.My brother in law pays over 250 a week for one kid and he only makes 12 an hour. And everytime he turns around his ex has him back in court wanting more.I just dont understand some people.

@the truth, I know your ex and am curious as to how she is related to Judge Brown. I also know for a fact the you are thousands in the hole on child support and never went to jail. Never attended any of your so-called classes you referred to. So, your name - the truth- really doesn't fit now does it.

U might wanna check ur sources again... Ive done everything that i was ordered to do,&for the record ive paid the majority of my owed child support. However,if u know my ex,u would know that the judge is her cousin. In my opinion, shes keeping my kids away from me so they dont find out the truth about their mother,&the answers to all of her lies shes told them about me.

Maybe you should spread that info around to all your little bimbo friends who think they can have some poor unsuspecting guy's kids then sponge off his paycheck the rest of their life.

I wouldn't care if child support ended forever, as long as my ex stays away from my son he could keep his money, I knew what I was getting into when I decided to have my son, just think if you can't get the dead beat to pay you to help raise your son why in the hell would they be any count in being in their lives??? Only to show them how to make them how to get around adult/parent obligations

That's right, get a job & if the sorry man isn't helping you then yes take him for all you can get. I'm tired of watching these men run around acting like they are real man but when they stick that unprotected penis in someone & get them pregnant, they run. It takes two to make a child & men should be held accountable just as the women. Justice for men? Really, you must be one of those that don't help with your kids. Any man like that is a sorry individual.
