I'm from western KY. Within the past year, mountain lions were deemed habitats of KY. I had a large cat killing calves on my farm. It was captured, and identified by KY Dept of Fish & Wildlife, as a mountain lion.

Sorry... that link just shows possible sightings of cougars, mountain lions in this area. I'm thinking maybe it's not so far fetched that there was a hit and run mountain lion in Portland, Gallatin... or anywhere in middle Tenn.
I certainly can't say that it will never happen, but I can say it didn't happen this time.

James, that's fine and well, however the lion people are saying was killed in Sumner County is a fake. The picture going around has been proven to be stolen from an online publication, and was claimed to have been taken by someone here in Gallatin. Like I said above, I'm not saying it can never happen, but it didn't happen this time.

James is also telling a fib. If not please ID your county and the officer who took the cat.

Just because some idiot grabbed a picture off the internet in a misguided attempt to lend credibility to their story doesn't mean that there are no cougars in middle TN or that one wasn't hit on 109. I know someone who came up on the accident site and lives in the area. I also know several people who have seen, without a doubt, cougars in middle TN. It is unfortunate that the picture was misused providing ammunition for the skeptics.

Seriously? That's not what they say at the GPD OR the Sumner County Sheriff's Department. There very well may be cougars in the area, but there definitely was not an accident involving one on 109 or anywhere in Sumner County.

If u "know someone that came up on the accident site", then u know someone who "knows" u will believe anything

I saw a mountain lion chasing deer near the archery field at vol state today at the motorcycle course. I was shocked to see it.

Nope and neither have you. There isn't ONE brown bear east of the Rocky Mountains. As a matter of fact 95% of North American brown bears are in Alaska. NEXT!!!

I think you mean black bears. They are mostly in East Tennessee but have been spooted as far west as middle Tennessee.

I live in sumner county TN and I have seen a large cat like animal too large to be a dog. It has a long tail like a cat and walks sleek like a cat. I saw it first about a year ago and have seen it one other time.(always at night near the lake) Today, I took my dog on a walk and in the woods at the lake there are dead deer remains. It looks like something ripped the flesh off the sides of the deer.
