I was wondering if anyone knew why the police department bought a brand new charger? They have more cars than they have officers. I also have noticed that all of the police speed all the time. I'm not talking about a few mph either I'm talking about 50 - 60mph in a 30mph or 35mph. They are going to end up hurting or killing someone!!! That's all we need another lawsuit!! One more thing does anyone know the reason why Chris Jones is no longer with the Portland PD? I've heard a few different stories and just want the truth. THX

They are used old chargers purchased from Bell Meade police dept. I was there when they picked them up. Know your facts, brand new. As for speeding, what city doesn't have cops flying through it. It's a job perk.

There are laws for a reason that's why I follow them. I agree that being an officer doesn't give them the right to break laws then turn around and give you a ticket for doing the same thing.

The police do speed. Every one of them. Some blatantly. They also "California roll" thru stop signs. Every one of them.

Your right they speed, buy new cars. Ummm lets see what else do they do? THEY ARE THERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM! Lets see they have a head light out in one of the outdated crusiers and they are seen on their cell phones. again they are there when they are needed. Can we please find something else to wine about, not the ones that are serving and protecting when we are out drinking and using our partners as a punching bag?

Since you say breaking certain laws are ok because they are police officers, tell us which laws are they allowed to break as "perks"?

Its one thing to speed when going to a call. That isn't even speeding!!! What I don't understand is when they blow past you doing 50 then stop at Sonic or a gas station. They are here to protect everyone I'm grateful for what they do. But when it comes down to it they should have to follow the same laws the citizens have to follow

Anyone noticed the third shift deputy that sleeps in his car all the time on back roads? Pass by him a couple times a week. I think SCSO should GPS these guys and check up on them from time to time. The ones who do this are putting the community in danger as well as other officers. Cops like that are a disgrace to the badge, real officers and the community.

lol.. so glad to see that other people notice the same law breaking cops in portland. in one week, three people i know were harassed. one was in the parking lot of food lion, just about to get out to shop when a cop knocks on her window and says, maam, do you realize your son is out of his carseat? she replied, yes, do you realize that we are going into the store to shop.. cop tells her to get out of the car, rebuckle her son, so he can see that she knows how to restrain him properly.. she said, are you serious?? cop says yes, or a 350$$ ticket...!!! for what?? sitting in your car, making a phone call before going into a store.. I would understand if she was actually moving or the car was even started.. Really, someone needs to step up and stop allowing the bullying by cops.. this is not a reflection on all cops, only the crooked ones.. and as for "being there for us when needed, ha! i was grabbed by my throat by another female and she also called and made false police report and Nothing was done.. Yet, a person can pick up the phone and call the police and say, tom, dick, or harry, hit, touched, blah blah to me and they will go arrest the other person.. i dont get into trouble, dont do drugs, may drink once or twice a year, yet feel like im going to be pulled over for no reason everytime i drive thru portland.. i sure wish the law was for everyone..

Because most of them are notorious womanizers. They probably got a girl at sonic or one or the gas stations and they use these places to pick up women. I used to be proud of my police force, but I realize that very few have integrity.

Since you're no longer proud of them, don't call them when you need help.
