tha stockton hotel has re-opened as the stockton grill. glad to have the building occupied and used once again! however, the food is way overpriced (kids meal for 10 dollars) reservations requested, before 5 pm and after 9 pm they seat you in the bar/patio area. no more friday fish fry! the prices are way overpriced for what you get! fine dining in stockton? they are driving away the locals, who were the heart and soul of the old stockton hotel...they have a dress code? are you kidding!!! this is stockton, ny! not nyc in the theater district or any other large city! this is smalltown w.ny, also the owner- James Bensink is a complete douchbag! he is abusive, and a real bully! no wonder nobody will work for him for very long!he has anger issues and in known by the sheriffs dept. and also the state police. this freak deserves the "beating of the week" please boycott this business! if this is what is going on in this building, it would have been better off if it remained closed! on our first and only visit, we heard this man screaming and throwing a fit toward his employees. James Bensink, you are a pussy, and a bully! you will get what you have coming to you. not because you misjudged your business decision,(that happens all the time) but because you are a real scumbag, bully, and do not know how to deal with people! you will soon hit your "brick wall"

1. The fish fry is coming so hold on to your complaint there.

2. NYC Theatre District the price would be doubled plus more. Guess you haven't been there in many years, realizing Erie is the metro area outside of NY.

3. The price is reasonable and fair for a START up restaurant perhaps you are unaware of start up costs today.

4. I have been very pleased and happy with the food and service.

5. Please feel free to not come to Stockton since it seems to upset you so much. Perhaps McDonalds would be better for you.

6. Dress code pleaseeeeeeeee

ps Children's menu prices are reasonable too you just don't go to proper restaurants do you.

Was sure hoping The old Stockton Hotel would take of again. But it looks like i am in for a big surprise. Then again you can't come to a little town in the middle of chautauqua County and run it like we are better then our neighbors because it won't work.he should take the chip of his shoulder and listen to some of the coustomers of the old hotel and have his Friday night fish and a few other things that the old hotel had and stay home and let the employees do their job OR stop thinking you know it all and relize you can learn something new everyday. If you would carter to coustomers and give them what they are asking for i am sure price wont matter but his $10 for kids meal is a little out of the ball park for stockton. Please take it upon yourself and just try to listen to the people you partronize the hotel now and in the pass because you do have a Gold Mine if you so choose. Thankl You!

The state was slow issuing their permanent liquor license. Typical NYS govt messing with small business. Once it is in, they will be back open.

The owner is doing fine, you have not figured "it" out yet. He doesn't want the local dregs in the place. End of story, it s a restaurant, not a bar. Fish fry will happen in time, take a pill. The old Stockton Hotel is gone along with the many many alcoholics that inhabited the place, it is 2013 not 1913. Sorry but your longing for the past and thinking that your little world of Stockton is the only way to make a success of a place is outmoded, out of place and without knowledge experience nor business in this century. Something tells me your not a business person of this century starting a business now are you?

Instead of brow beating let's stay on track of what works at this business.Alcoholics or not the town people are also hard working Farmer's,Town Worker's,Veterans So on So forth and they all seen what worked for the people that came there in high numbers. There were Doctor's, Lawyer's,Judges,Construction,F actory worker's,with their Children and if they asked for applesauce or mashed for their children they got it,no $10 meals. You should accomodate the public. If it is just a Restaurant then why make people sit in the bar for Wing's, Burger's,Hot Dog's? If you don't want the Bar Crowd then let people sit in the diningroom.Your Bar should carry your food! Listen to your public and put up with the blue jeans and dirty work shirts, that is money in your pocket. As far as The Winter and Snomobiler's coming might better humble yourself a lot, that wet snow is liquid gold.Whiskey Hill will gladly serve them sleds, enjoy the people and feed them great food without stipulations. That is why they are a success!

I don't understand why the people in this area feel they should have an opinion on how someone should run they're business . If you don't like it ,don't go! But endless bitching about it is getting old. So, put up,or shut up!

Everyone should be able to state their opinion. Maybe the people in this area were hoping for a reasonably priced, good food and welcoming restaurant. The way it is, most don't even want to support it. I agree...This is Stockton, not NY City or even Buffalo. We will all see how long this restaurant will stay open, then we will see who's opinion really mattered!!!

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but it's not just the people of The Stockton area commenting on how The Business is doing or the attitude of the new owner.Go outside the box and listen to your public not just the little town of Stockton.See how many people are coming back a second time.Don't get defensive, change the thing's that are not quite working.Switch it up, ask people(customers)

It was a bad business plan for a place in Stockton, we all agree! But opening yet another local bar in the area is yet another bad idea. There is not enough people to keep all these places open. You would end up with your cut of the pie,and bring the rest down. Then no one will be open.

Bars in the rural areas are a thing of the past, I don't like it either but that is the way it is. Nobody wants to go have a few beers while watching a football game or listening to a band and then have to drive some distance to go home and risk a DWI. Bars in the cities can still make it, ever try to catch a cab in Stockton or walk home?( unless you live in the hamlet). A good restaurant reasonably priced and with good service and good food could work out in the middle of nowhere, but yes the snowmobilers and bikers would be a big help also. I Wish them the best, but I don't see it lasting much longer the way it's going.

Agree! In a small town like Stockton you need to be a bit humble. Not a good idea to all of a sudden pick and chose your clientel.Your snomobilers are your bread and butter during the winter months, they bring in more money than your summer months do, believe me, I know that for a fact jack. You turn them away you might as well close your doors. It's called catering to your public. The my way or the highway attitude will NOT put money in the till.

Bread and Butter-antiquated term for something undereducated business owners use to describe a facet of their clientele.
All of a Sudden-Each business properly opened has a business plan not all of a sudden-colloquial term.
I know that for a fact-doubt you know anything from your writing here.
The till-now here is an old old term when there were not even cash registers.
Yes, this expounded business genius has solid knowledge of operating a business and clearly a solid education. One can tell by the outstanding writing.
