Will the merger between Brocton and Westfield increase taxes for the Westfield Taxpayers? I have heard this recently.

I have heard for sometime that taxes will go up. The fact is a lot of issues have not been resolved. Take transportation for one. How can you figure a merger and not take into account the fact that transportation costs are going to go up. Someone will have to pay for that.

There are more and more people asking questions about the merger. It appears the entire Westfield BOE is trying to hide facts. Lets have some more meetings and get the word out.

I heard that they aren't going to have more meetings as they do not want to answer questions.

There really should be more meetings for the public to comment and ask questions. Its like they just wan to keep things as quiet as possible going up to the vote.

its happening... we know you NEED this done or your district is in deep trouble with all of the debt you have taken on. Westfield residents need to know the truth about the advantages or disadvantages of a merge. Voting for it just because it's what you think you should do is a mistake.

There are more meetings coming up, one in brocton and one in westfield. They will be informational meetings I heard with several stations where people can go and ask questions.

They have nothing to hide? Really, There are numerous facts being held up that is why there are no more meeting being planned. There is a BOE meeting in Westfield Monday Night, I would recommend those with questions go!

The WACS BOE has already made up it's mind to merge. They don't care what the parents or residents of Westfield want. The Westfield School will be closed in 3 years if the merger goes down. Teachers will end up without a job. Count on it, read the report. Ask questions about transportation costs and who will be paid off with a merger. They are not going to keep two superintendents.

Teachers jobs are the furthest thing from being a priority in a merger. Graduating classes of 50-60 people in these 2 schools and the waste of everyone's money for schools that are 7 miles apart. Like it or not if the merger is voted down within 5 years a lot of schools in Chautauqua County will be merging. Fact. Its called common sense. By the way Westfield school is falling down and there ball fields and high school gym are the worst in the county.

One other thing to add. There are WAY too many teachers now in these two schools. Expect about 50 teachers to lose there jobs between Brocton and Westfield. I hear North Carolina is nice this time of year.

So what if taxes go up with a merger. I don't mind spending an extra $150 or more per year to have a better school.

So you REALLY think the boards have something to gain by this proposed merger, that they would "HIDE" facts?? Really?? Then go to the Meeting Monday with all of your naysayers and ask questions to your hearts content.

Well I don't want my children to be treated harshly because I asked questions. I really don't want to go to the BOE meeting I would rather have the school schedule more meetings, both schools. And you talk about nothing to hide, wasn't that what occurred with the last superintendent? He had nothing to hide did he?

It isn't necessarily about "hiding" things as it is about truthful presentation. BOCES would like to see a successful merge because it makes them look good etc. The schools want to see a merge because it gives them over 26 million extra dollars to spend with little accountability. The teachers want as much of that money as they can shake out.
Everything else is just a scare tactic to get you to vote yes for the money. This is where you need to ask the questions to get the truth.

You going to think they have something to hide, and you base this on the last superintendentsblunders? Really??

Do you have any basis for these numbers?
Run for school board and encourage others then, you can have a direct say in this.
The teachers union, sadly, is one of the strongest in the state. What are the teachers going to do? Go on strike? They cant... Get another job at another district. Not likely...You have a right to know where this money goes. Make the board members be accountable.

I think you are fishing with all of the rest of your statements.
