Spread too thin
The debate over village police also covering the town of Westfield was started back in November when Carr reported to the board he had sent a letter to Westfield Town Supervisor Martha Bills requesting that the town increase its payment for police coverage incrementally from $10,000 to $70,000 in the next few years.

Of course the town of Westfield needs to chip in more money if they are getting police services.
The question is why was this policy in effect for 18 years and only being reviewed now?
The Village clerk, the Village Board and the Mayor dropped the ball on not re-working this policy each year.

You can add the police chief in there as well for not asking for more town funding.

I agree with the OP...the ball was dropped by too many officials. Issues that NEED to be addressed are not getting the attention they deserve. It's been going on in Westfield for many, many years.
As of right now, I'm more concerned with the mention of the PD falsifying their numbers. It amazes me that no one is filing charges or auditing them. At the very least, there should be an investigation. If they are allowed to lie to get more money illegally, than what else are they doing in that's not legal or ethical?
