jus wondering what some of ya think of the new station . i heard they were jus renting it off nick cause he owed lot on back taxes on place . but then other day heard from a guy that use to work there for many of years . they paid 850,000 for it . if that's true i like how they can spend all that money on that but they cant fix other things in town like some of the roads . but i was jus wondering what some of others thought bout it .

I believe they paid approximately $200,000. I think it was a great buy and a perfect location. I'm proud of our council for voting to purchase that building. It will be a great asset to this community.

I think it is awesome! Do you expect our PD to continue operating out of a building that is unsafe? It should have been condemned long ago. I swear you people want CHANGE and progress, but as soon as you start seeing things happen you complain. As for the cost, the facility cost $250,000.00.If you would actually read the paper you would know that.

The south side has been dealing with it just fine for years. It's really not that big of a deal since we do have a viaduct. Plus, they now have instant access to the highway instead of having to go around city blocks to get to the emergency.
so what

The buildings cost $200,000. Part of the purchase included Nick remodeling the Fire Dept for and extra cost of $50,000. The police are doing their own remodeling for less than $20,000. This is all public knowledge and was printed in the newspaper and available at the City Building. So let me see a cost of $275,000 for two new modern up to date buildings. Maybe you all should do a little homework and you will find that it would cost MILLIONS to build these two facilities new. I think that is quite a savings to the taxpayers of this fine City. Money that was well spent and used wisely to get the most bang for the buck. All personel from both Departments have put in countless hours to make these facilities something for the City to be proud of.

This buiding is progress UC can be proud of. Many people have put in hours of work to accomplish all of this for a minimal amount of money. Taxpayers in this town should be rejoicing at the frugality of everyone involved. All of this information has been public knowledge.

I know that every dept needs updated, but at who's expense? I know that the new territory is going to pay the bill. Our company agreed with President Conklin to hold off getting paid until after Jan 2010. I hope they have plenty of money bank rolled. Has anyone heard about President Conklins new sign for this building? I was told by a UCI firefighter its ordered at a cost of $30,500. I think we needed this too! Was our old signs condemed?

I personally am looking forward to the transition. I think it will be a very nice building and a positive move towards modernism in this town. I would like to see the fire and police departments to do a community open house to showcase their new facilities to the public. That way the community can come out and see the buildings inside and out and take pride in this accomplishment.
