Union City man arrested for sexual misconduct

UNION CITY - A Union City man has been charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor after police said he had sex with a girl half his age.

While there are alot of parents out there who clearly aren't measuring up, you must keep in mind that all parents will be duped by their children at some point in time. Come on, haven't we all lied about who's house we were staying at before? I do not know the parents, child, or perp involved in this incident, but, keep in mind that this man could easily manipulate this young naive child and scum like him need to be held accountable. Keep the blame focused where it belongs and keep him off the streets to keep all of our young girls safe.

oops. When I visited the site from here, I read a couple of comments that had been posted there and thought I would be replying to those. Obviously, they were blaming parenting for the sickening pediphilic behavior of this 30 yr. old man with a 15 yr. old child.

At 15 I really don't think one can blame this child, notice I did say child. The man is 30 years old and should know better. If it was a child of mine I would want to cut this scums privates off and shove then down his throat and let him gasp for air. Willing or not this man has no right to do this to a child. So what if she lied about her age...her friend said she was 15. Anyways, last time I checked it's still illegal for a 30 year old man to have sex with a 17 year old (which he claimed she said).

The front of the child's brain is not fully developed yet, therefore affecting their skills in reasoning and self control. This is why we have laws protecting our children.

The girl is underage and what the guy did was wrong, yet where were the parents when this girl was running around with this guy. Anyone who has raised a child knows that you always question your kids and check up on them from time to time. As much as you want to believe your kids are angels and don't do anything wrong. We all know that all kids fudge the truth to get what they want. I know I kept our kid on his toes by constantly checking up on his whereabouts. If he wasn't truthful we knew it and dealt with it. If he was truthful then he got a little more freedom.
Parents must be held accountable for their kids actions. When we forget that we end up with this situation and other situations far worse. The parenting skills need to be questioned here as well as the criminal act of the 30 year old. At the very least mandatory parenting classes. With oversight by Childrens Services. And counseling for the young girl to deal with why she needed to run around with a 30 year old to feel good about herself.
Everyone involved here has problems that need to be dealt with.

i think the main thing is adults are adults for a reason..
you teach your children to respect adult...if they are lost they are to find an adult...everything boils down to this idea and i think everyone gets the point without further explaining...
my point is...i see alot of girls that walk around dressed sleezy...showing themselves off like there bodies are a playground...and i see there parents allowing them to do it...
but that is no reason for a 30 year old man to find interest in a young child...what does she have to offer other than sex.? can he honestly get "companionship from her?...can she get a job and help pay bills? how can she even contribute...?
this clearly isnt the way he was thinking other wise he wouldnt have gotten with her regardless of 15/17...cmon it is 2 years i really dont see that much of a difference...either way it is wrong
i feel when you reach 21 you shouldnt date anyone younger than 19-20 but that is my opinion..
kids arent kids anymore they want to be grown up....they want their own lives...and the problem is they aren't going very far with them when allowed to do so...
it is our jobs as parents to keep our kids occupied as much as we can...to try and steer them in the right direction...to get them educated..and hopefully get them out of this town long enough for them to find secure employment and a nice job...(i'm not dissing uc i just dont feel there is much here...i like living here because i am close to my family and because its a small quiet community for the most part to raise my kids) but i hope they get out on there own and discover there are more things in life to offer
back to the point this man was looking for nothing else than to knock his nuts...and i hope he finds a nice man in prison/jail...to do just that

You make a very good point and I agree with kids needing to leave this town and find their way. I personally believe everyone should go into the service or to college to find their way. Something to get them away from home and force them out into the world. How many times have we seen adult children being protected by their parents and relatives when they do something wrong? You see it in the news all the time. You know the parents that they show in the courtroom saying, "My kids isn't capable fo this. The police set him up."
But I still have ask, concernign this girl, where were the parents? This 15 year old is out partying with adults, drinking and spending all night with them and where were the parents?
The guy will get what is coming to him, that's for sure. But what will happen to mom and dad?
They need to be brought in front of a judge and explain themselves and their neglect. Imaginge if these people have younger kids. We know what their future holds for them.
There are people out there that use their kids to serve their own purpose.

I happen to know for a fact that this is a common occurrence in this town. I know a 15 year old who has a child with a 35 year old man. Her mother allows this to go on. It was this guys relation. These girls lie to these men about their ages, then use it against them to manipulate the men. It is wrong don't get me wrong, but the parents are ok with it. And I will be the first to tell you the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

also, this guy will not do prison time. He is mexican, what will happen, is that his green card will be revoked and he will be returned to mexico on a diversion plan. And guess what 2 or 3 years from now he will return to the US, probably to Union City, cuz all the family lives here, where he can reunite with this young lady and live happily ever after.

He probably doesn't even have a green card, and will probably be back in the U.S two weeks from the time he gets sent back. A 14 yr. old (that didn't lie about her age); got pregnant by a 31 yr. old and as soon as she told him, he was back in Mexico by the next day. Needless to say we (the taxpayers) are now paying for his child.

The problem is "mom501" and "uci native" have valid points here. The law says that this is statuatory rape & it doesn't carry much of a sentence.

I too know some minors that have relationships with adult men, not Mexican either, and these guys get what they want and had back home, to Kentucky and Tennessee in these cases, and the parents are not happy but they are not pushing the issue. Parents have to be held accountable we can't emphasize that point enough to the people in charge.
I know some of these girls want to get out of the situation that they are in so bad that they are willing to give up their childhood and start having kids just to have some kind of control over their own lives. They think that having their own family where they are the parent will give them the normalcy they crave.
This is twisted thinking but it is what you see on T.V. and on the news and in magazines. Teen stars getting pregnant, teen stars running around with adults in night clubs, teens being chased by the paparazzi to see who they are having sex with.
It's twisted what the media consider news. World War III could be starting in the former Soviet Union and the media is reporting what Brittany Spears' pregnant sister is doing and where she is shopping and so on...
It's wrong. And it's what these girls eat up.

I think this is a problem that needs dragged into the daylight in Union City. It doesn't get much publicity when it happens around here. The Muncie paper puts it in bold headline and follows up on the progress of the trial when it happens in Delaware county. Not so much here. Kinda swept under the rug. It knows no nationality or prefers no job title. There are twelve registered sex offenders listed on the Randolph county website with Union City addresses and none of them are hispanic. It has been almost a year since the assistant band directer at U.C.C.H.S. was arrested for child molestation. He was arrested 3 times in the course of a month but I haven't seen anything in the paper about it since and darned little when it happened.
