Hey John, I ran into a group of guys a few months ago that said to tell you hi and the spoke so fondly of Cecil AKA the Great Bolo.
I grew up on the same block with you guys when you lived accross from the bank. I went to all the wrestling shows your dad promoted and met every wrestler. Later in life I had the opportunity to become part of the NWA midsouth as part of the Missouri Badd Boys, Renegade, Mark Southern, Cookie St. James and myself Ca$h "Debt Colletor" McCoy. We are all to old to get back full time and have careers but this year we did some shows on the Indi circuit accross Tennessee. Back in May we worked a major NWA reunion show with alot of old school workers out of Memphis, we worked the main event with Naughty By Nature (our nemesis back in the day) Rude and Poker face, they are now working out of Memphis for Lawler and Maclin as The Insane Clown Posse.
To make a long story short, Rock and Roll Express (Rick Morton and Robert Gibson) worked Tracy Smothers and Chris Michaels on the undercard. In the dressing room Rick and Robert told some stories about Cecil that killed us and spoke very highly of the whole family. Rick said to tell you hi and that you had to be the meanest kid he ever met........lol Take care,

I used to go to wrestling as a kid down in Blytheville. Kuz Moreland and Chuck Gamblin and Dad would rotate turns taking us.Kuz was a radio announcer and we got to go backstage when he took us. Herb Welch who was Jerry Jerrets father in law was the promoter. Ive seen Cecil wrestle there as well as John Luker another Pville resident.Backstage we got to meet Jerry Lawler,Jerry Jerret,Tojo Yamamoto,Jackie and Rough House Fargo,Handsom Jimmy Valiant,Bill Dundee,Rick Flair, and many others.I had a collection of 88 autographed photos at one time and lost them in a fire.Man those were the good ol days.

Good Morning Cash! To everyone else out there how's this for carma: I as well grew up on Memphis wrestling. I loved Saturday mornings, yelling and screaming. As my boys were born, I banned wrestling from my house because it was "violent".... Now they are 17 years old and 13 years old. They've played hockey since before they could walk, talk about violent. My husband was a wrestler in school and vowed never to let our boys participate in the sport. Ha, ha on both of us. It's in our boys blood! Josh our oldest, is a black belt and was invited in 2002 to the worlds in greece for sparing! Our youngest Ethen is now wrestling varsity for his school! Wrestling has since been allowed back into our home along with ultimate fighting, by the way Chuck is my fav!!! Well now his is. My old fave was Bill Dundee!!! And I still dispise Rick Flair "whew"!!! Yes, wrestling holds fond memories for me. Happy we saw the light and now wrestling will hold fond memories for our sons! By the way "cash" you and the bad boys owe my boys a match! Get on it! Sis

John I can remember when your mom was sick and your dad needed some money to help pay some of the many bills that come with sickness. Jerry "The King" Lawler found out about it had your dad to come to Mempho and wrestle him on TV for the belt. If I remember, your dad pinned Lawler but would not let him have the belt because it was not a title match. But the reason he had your dad to come was not to make him look bad, but to help him. What a lot of people don't know was, that they paid your dad well and all the wrestlers pitched in and gave helped also. Some of those guys may act mean, but really they do have a heart.

God Bless and Merry Christmas.

Yeah I tried the whole banning wrestling, guns, etc. Well ya know what little boys make guns out of ANYTHING LOL. They also wrestled w/o ever watching wrestling. I gave up-gotta let boys be boys.

Bill Dundee lives in Jackson Tennessee or close around the area. He is on the Talk Radio station quite often. They still have a few wrestling matches at the local clubs and different events. He helps plan all of them. The link is www.wnws.com . I don't know when he will be back on again. He frequents the station often. Many people call in to talk to him about the "good ole days" of wrestling.

Bill does host a wrestling talk show out of Jackson Tn. He and his son Jamie Dundee still work shows on the Tennessee indi circuit. Bill lives about 25 minutes out of Jackson and owns and operates a gentlemens club outside of Paris Tn. off I-40 exit 49. We have done a few shows with him in the TN area. He his still going strong and draws a good crowd.

Nice Pic sis. After the holidays we are going give it one last push before we hang up our boots for good. Maybe they can catch one of the shows. I will let you know what our schedule is after the first of the year.

Hi Bub, you know you guys will never hear the end of it if you don't! My boys won't let you rest. I thought this was a better picture than the "pimp cup" picture!!!
Thanks everyone for all the info on Bill Dundee!

I graduated with john and he was a cool dude. All through high school john was a very out going guy.He was on the football team, and he played pretty good.It seems strange that a former classmate has passed on,because when your young, stuff like that never crosses your mind.REST IN PEACE JOHN;)

I read the obituary for John Brian Hedge and it seems like his father Cecil Hedge is deceased as well.
When did Cecil Hedge die?
Any information on Cecil is appreciated.
