As you know the wind storm that we had in September knocked alot of the pecans off early & they are very scarce this year. Alot of people are picking up there own pecans this year due to not very many are good.

I lost maybe 400-500 lb. from my trees. Would have been a bumper crop too. My husband has been fighting the squirrels for the nuts and he has found about 4 gal. it will get me thru but I was wanting to give my mom and BIL and SIL some they lost both of their trees to Ike.

Try buying a VERY small tray of them at Wal Mart, about $6.00, no where near a quart in it, their price is not bad at all in the above post. I have approx 6 gallons shelled, I have given away 6 gallons also, I have 2 BIG tubs full that I haven't shelled yet, and they are still falling off my trees!!

Oh I am not saying that is a bad price, I know how hard it is to sit and crack them. I have just finished my 4th gal. to put in the freezer for my self. We lost most of ours. I don't lilke the machine crackers they bust them up so I hand crack mine.

We lost alot too, but we were lucky enough to have such a large amount left. I crack mine too, it's easier that way, seems that when someone else cracks them, you just have to work around their mess!

I know I tooked mine to Diebolds once and they were smashed and not cracked. It was hard to get all the shells out of it. Some crackers may work better than theirs but that was my experiance. If our trees hadn't been in such a mess and we had to have them cut way back to clean up the yard we may have had more. Our trees were so pretty and almost touched the ground and looked looked like a plantation yard but now they are cut so way back they will never be that pretty again. But maybe the pecans will be good. the ones out of top are the better ones anyway.

I have alot of pecans. Will sell a 50 lb bag unshelled for $100. I have the small ones and the medium sized ones as well. I could probably get rid of around 200 pounds. I am located in Bragg City.
