Why are people assuming that they are on welfare.
Just because they have a messy house doesn't mean that they are on welfare. The area in which they live is an area of nice middle class homes and is not used to trouble or violence. It is a very family orientated area. Remember what they say about assuming.
I grew up in this neighborhood, and man has it gone down hill since I was a kid in the late 80's and 90's. A lot of nice houses and families brought down by trash. It's really sad.

I think it depends on which county you live in. A friend and I have kids about the same age, and were receiving assistance when they were babies. I had to be in school or work by the time mine was 1 y.o. in Kent Co. She could wait until her child was 3 y.o. and they lived in Allegan Co. Maybe it has to do with transportation.
I am sure it depends on what county you live in..here in ottawa county you have til your youngest is 6 months old..(last I knew of anyway) its been many years since I needed state assist..but my monthly cash was like under four hundren..not enough to cover the rent. let alone utilities. not enough to want to stay home for :)Being disabled I had no choice til SSI kicked in..I would guess that most that do stay home and collect must have another in the home that helps pays the bills.')
* off subject * sorry...Glad the suspect was captured.
Try not to judge others by the way the keep their homes..(unsanitary Home does not make an unsanitary Heart...)

The woman I wrote about earlier in Ionia County with the filthy house was not on welfare, she was just a pig. People offered to help her pick up, but she'd just get angry and tell them to mind their own business. Someone said in another post (I can't remember who) that maybe mental ilness plays into it...

She doesn't live in that house anymore- it's still sitting empty in Lake Odessa.(For anyone who's interested in seeing it for themselves, it's a tiny, dirty, little box on a street across from the fairgrounds sign. Even empty, it's pretty impressive.)

What exactly is a parole 'absconder'? Someone who makes off with parole? I thought they were just called parole violaters.
When you abscond you don't report and the agent doesn't know where to find you. When you violate it's that you've done something you were told not to do that could put you back in the joint.
