rval, we can argue our own points all day and never agree. I'm not trying to win you to my point of view and I'm not going to agree with yours, so rather than end up in a fight, let's just stop.
I believe God is the God of the universe and I've seen Him work absolute miracles in my own life and in the lives of people around me, but this banter doesn't do anything productive.
Coincidence:
the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection

Exactly...someone...I never said I didn't believe in G-d...just that He doesn't "control" or "answer Prayers"...it would defeat the whole free will thing

Wow! What a wonderful outcome to something that could have been tragic. God does work in mysterious and wonderful ways.
TO REPLY TO "MAYBE"....Have you ever heard of faith? It's apparent that you don't have any. People are entitled to their beliefs and you need to keep your opinions to yourself.

Yes, it was very disturbing when the headline was, "Prayers Answered;" So maybe, someone can explain why G-d didn't answer my friend's Prayers when her child was dying of cancer....and with a better explanation than, "It just wasn't meant to be"
I could not agree with you more. God doesn't 'punish' some with unanswered prayers, while favoring others. Otherwise, those in the 'correct religion' would live happy, healthy, productive lives, and those of wrong religious beliefs would be the only ones with pain and suffering. These two men were going to do everything right and survive, or make a horrendous mistake and die on the mountain. That simple. I'm very happy for them, their families and friends that they are coming home.
My heart aches for your friend. No deeper pain than losing your child. I hope time helps her heal.

Dear Maybe,
You obviously haven't experienced a life of trusting in God nor have a knowledge of what it means to be a forgiven sinner. I'll tell you what would have happened if they had died. Yes, there would have been sorrow. Yes, there would have been grief. Yes, it would have been a tragedy. Would they/we still be praising God? YES. Why? Because we trust God for the good, the bad, the questionable and the hard to understand. We would be comforted by the fact that God's plans are not always our plans, but because we have chosen to follow Him as our Saviour and Forgiver of sins due to his shed blood on the cross, we can have peace and joy in whatever comes our way. Accepting Jesus as our Saviour and believing in His work on the cross to forgive all our sins, past, present and future doesn't guarantee us a trouble free life but it certainly gives us hope in that WHATEVER comes our way comes from or is allowed by God. I don't expect you to understand all this. I also don't think it shows an openmindedness on your part to make so many "matter of fact" statements about what you think goes on in the church and lives of Christians that really trust God for all things....help in the good AND the bad. If you really think that God's Word, the Bible, is a big fairy tale I will have a hard time changing your mind. However, I would DARE you to read it. If you're not willing to learn the Truth so that you can intelligently debate it, then that is a decision you'll have to make. By the way, I've lived in many other places other than where I was born or grew up. I've learned about Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and all the other "isms". I searched for truth and found it in Jesus Christ. I have friends that are of different races, different religious backgrounds and I have friends that are NOT Christians. I have friends that have had abortions and I have friends who are gay. There is only one difference between them and me in many cases. I have asked Jesus to be my Saviour and to forgive my sins. They have not. I am sure that I'm going to Heaven and they don't know if they are or not. I know I don't have to work my way to Heaven and many of them think they have to do good things to get to Heaven. I have accepted Christ's free gift of salvation and they have not. I am going to Heaven for sure and if they don't repent of their sins they are going to Hell. I didn't say that....God did. Maybe if I live my life before them in the way that God wants me to they will see that God really CAN take a sad, bitter, fearful person afraid of death and give them hope for a future full of peace and joy and the assurance of Heaven after death. I really hope you take the challenge and search out somebody that can give you some answers that will give you joy in your life.

I'd rather serve God and find out He's not real than not serve Him and find out He is.

People who live their lives based on the Bible are happier, more peaceful people. If it turns out that's the best I ever get out of it then I still come out ahead of where I otherwise would have been.

I am soooo glad they are okay... I'm friends with one of his daughters and when I heard about it I was so freaked out but now I'm just praising God for everything he did and that he delivered them safely. Congradulations to the Boso's on Mr. Boso and their Uncle coming home safely.

What would happen if they were dead? Would you still be praising god? Isnt it odd how anything good that happens must be the work of god but if it goes the other way than thats just the way things are? Did you ever stop to think that maybe you find reasons to support your belief in a fairy tail but ignore contradictory evidence? Or maybe these two just kept a cool head and figure a way out of their problem and there wasnt anything more to it? Have you ever wondered if that guy in the robes standing in the pulpet keeps feeding you a lie so he can collect your paycheck every sunday? He's got to eat to right? Have you ever stopped to think for yourself and stop listening to what people are trying to make you believe? Have you ever stepped outside your comfort zone to experience anything new, to see if there might be another side to that story? How many of you have never moved more than half an hour from the house you grew up in? How many of you will even associate with people that might have a different idea about things than you and not go to the same church as you?
Maybe dying is just part of life and isnt a bad thing? maybe we dont need to make up stories to make us feel better when our time comes? Have you ever stopped to ask why?
Yah probably not. Pass the collection plate.
Yes,if they were dead I would still be praising God because He is still in control. Yes, I have stepped out of my comfort zone. Yes I have moved. Yes I do think for myself and I believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God. And I think that no matter what anyone says from a pulpit, right or wrong. I believe it because of Jesus Christ and His mercy in my life. The truth is the truth no matter what you think about the man in the robe and the system of christianity. Jesus Christ is wonderful and He has saved me and is living in me.
