I'm curious regarding some of the other comments about there being nicer places out there? Where in West Michigan is there someplace nicer? Sandy pines where you pay out the nose? Hidden ridge where you sit on a cement slab? Yankee springs which had the beaches shut down half the summer and are mosquito infested? By the middle of October, my family will have 60 says in out there for the year, and going someplace else would not be an option because that many days somewhere else would cost way too much. Personally, it's great for us.

We went there and the salesman was very nice until he found out we didnt have a credit card or $200.00 in our pocket to hold a membership.
We also were told on the phone that NO decisions on membership were to be made that day we were to go home and think about it WRONG!High pressure ex-car salesman.I told him we pay in cash at tax time and he was very rude and said not to come back to the campground again and the package would only be good that day only and never again!
We were never even given a tour of the park.
What a scam stay away unless you can walk in the door with $4500.00

I was just contacted the other day by a rep and I knew it was too good to be true after reading these comments. I don't want a membership but the prizes sounded great. I'm not going to waste an almost 3 hour drive after reading this information. Thank you for posting!

A woman just called me on my cell..I've seen the number come up before, but they never left a message. She claimed that I signed up for the raffle at our local fair (which was almost three months ago). I told her I did not sign up for anything. She tried to prove to me that I signed up by reading off of my "hand written" raffle entry. She rattled off my name and age...I told her that she probably got that off of the internet. I asked where their booth was located at our fair and she did not know. She was calling to tell me that she had drawn my name and although I did not win the truck or the 20,000 that I won a door prize. I told "no thanks" and hung up. Duh!

We got a call saying that we had entered a drawing for the truck at our local fair. Spring Lake Resort called again a few days later to confirm our appointment regarding a drawing that we entered at the Hillsdale County Fair...a fair we have NEVER been to. Since SLR wasn't too far away, we kept our appt. They schedule appts all day long with couples. While we were there waiting to talk to a representative, there were 4 other couples waiting too. The watches are junk! The other prize we won was a vacation package, but you're only allowed to bring 2 kids along at a cost of $50 each per night. Travel, food and any extra's aren't included. You're required to take a tour of the "resorts" that you vacation at. These are not high class people at all! The place isn't that nice and you can tell that these people bring couples in all day long and try to get them to buy into this. Their rooms are set up for this scam. You begin in a reception area with refreshments (popcorn, fruit, cookies, coffee), a rep comes in, makes small talk, brings you outside and to another room filled with round tables with three chairs where you sit down and he asked you lots of questions about where you vacation, how often etc. When he figures out he's not going to get a dime of your money, you go to another room with the "prizes." The lock you get to try your "truck" key in has been used by thousand of people. Don't waste your time. If this resort can't get people to use it/buy via a good reputation/word of mouth, you know it's shady!

It's amazing that all of the.negative opinions get here but none if the positive. As I have stated in here before, as a member, we LOVE the park. Maybe it's not the fanciest place on the planet, but it's a great place to meet friends and a safe place for your children to be. It's not for everyone, but as someone who actually USES there membership, I know its a great deal for us. We use it at least 60 days a year. Plus we just upgraded to ROD, which means its going to save us even more money in the long run. It's amazing all of our friends love coming out, they camp with us, spend the day, and they love it. If you don't camp, then don't do it, but if you do, its a great deal! Can't find a better one! Not when state parks cost 35 night and fancier parks are closer to 60 & seasonally cost over 1000 a year!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but had you experienced what the rest of us negative people had you too would be complaining. Kind of like, you don't know what it's like to walk in someone else's shoes until you actually do it. of course the bad things are shared as well as the good.

We are supposed to drive there tomorrow. It is a two hour drive and I dont know how they got my cell phone number. We already belong to a campground in Davison. Sounds like the same kind of sales pitch. I dont think we are going. Better things to do.

Thanks so much to all the writers here. It saves me being bothered going there at all. I have not entered a contest in years but went to the RV Show in GR this year. I have had calls from SLR several times but no message so I figured it was a sales call. Today Jack Case left a message that my slip had been drawn to win the truck or $20,000 and that if I did not want it then to let him know. I returned the call and left a message. Now I am sorry I did that but at least I will not be driving to Kalamazoo for no reason.

Spring Lake is a great campground! me and my wife Lois joined a couple of years ago and we haven't had a bad experience yet! the staff there is very curious and helpful. and all of us members seem to have a great time every year... Very glad we became part of American campgrounds and Coast to Coast.

We sat down with the sales rep and he pulled out an RCI book and showed us where we could travel. Turns out $6990 later RCI has nothing to do with them. I have never heard back from them and I tried 8 times to call with no answer.
I'd love help on this.

We paid about $4100. We are suppose to hear back from the Attorney General the end of this month. AG sent a letter on 11/30 to SLC and told me SLC had un til 12/30 to reply as they did not reply to the first letter AG sent them the end of October.
We never used the campground. We decided to cancel right away but NO RESPONSE from SLC. Might be a good place but lousy communication skills. Customer Service?
They said the same to us. Come look around. Maybe win a truck. Two free gifts.
After joining were told that day that Coast to Coast would be sending us a package within 3 weeks for our membership to them. That was August. When i contacted C to C they had nothing on us. 3rd week of November we got a small package of papers (unopened) from them.
Try it at your own risk:(

This place is a JOKE!!
Everyone wins dollar store watches and a vacation package , that ends up costing more then its worth and you have to sit again and listen to another time share speech. I don't know how they get away with this for so long and not shut down!!
I asked the kid that did our tour if I could look in the garbage and see what all the other couples that had been there today had won, and of course he wouldn't let me, But im sure it was the same thing we got.. Crappy part is we drove 3 hours there and 3 hours back!! But I did stop at the new firekeepers casino and won 50.00 lol

Write to the Attorney generals office. You can also do it online I believe. We too were taken advantage of also. We waited too long to file the complaint. We started getting a bill for $75.00 a month for maintenance fees for the home campground. We were never told aboput this fee, we refused to pay it and they sent us to collections. I wrote the Attorney Generals office and they said "there is no such thing as paying maintenance fees on something you do not own or use." The AG office is very familiar with this place and what they do to innocent people. If this is so wonderful why does no one want to buy my membership for $1000.00? I posted on here to sell it but no one reacts to it. I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the reviews, we were called this morning. They asked if we had an RV, I said no. They never mentioned that this was a campground! We will be canceling as soon as we get the packet in the mail with a contact number.

My thanks to spring lake for contacting us but we put all our money into purchasing an RV and it will be the rural and scenic settings for us versus the resorts.
Thank You anyway,

Im not a camper and just entered a contest for a free IPod at a random show. Why not the drawing said "win a free Ipad" When i got a call i thought i actually won something. Then i got on here and it sounds like a gimmick. If you enter a drawing you should win what they say, not try to scam you!

I entered the contest at the Women's Expo earlier this year and I too got a call in May. It was the usual "you won prizes, blah blah, take a tour, blah, No cost etc. Well, I figured something free is better than nothing at all, and I figured it'd be a nice drive. We got to the campground and met a very charming young salesman. He drove us around, told us about all the packages and options, which are actually a good deal IF you camp alot. I really like what they have to offer, but my husband and I recently bought our first home and both work full time +, so we dont have the time in our lives right now to travel enough to justify the purchase( But you bet as soon as life slows down a little we will be back) So we declined, and the salesman was polite and took us to try our key and what not. I was sure the chincy little key I had, would do nothing, so I was surprised when it opened the lock and I won an Ipad3, Awesome! Then we matched the number code and we also got A crystal tennis bracelet(cute) and a vacation package to anywhere in the U S. We have allready set up a trip to North Carolina in September, with the flight, hotel, and rental car included, my out of pocket was about 100 bucks for taxes and a deposit for the car. So yes, it is a sales gimmick, but all you have to say is no. I would do it again, and I would tell anyone else to go for it, who knows, if your an avid camper, you may fall in love!
