North Shore Animal League took the huge donation from this couple so why can't they honor the agreement?

$380,000.00 is a lot of money. However; it is a donation and it "technically" doesn't grant any special favors to the doner. If the League violated an agreement; then maybe you have an arguement. A gift is a gift. If the Donor's expected a special entitlement for their generosity; then the donation was not really a gift; and among other other things; should not be allowed as a deduction on the donor's tax return

i will take the company of a cat over a human ANY day, and i will give a donation to an animal shelter any day over a human charity.

people already have far too much. they are taking over the planet and destroying it unlike other animals. and still, humans want more more more.

greedy "me me me" humans. my entire estate is going to animal shelters. give me ONE good reason why i should do otherwise?

I have owned both dogs and cats. I love them both BUT I keep them in my home,on my property and do not let them annoy others. At the present time I own a cat who I saved from being tormented by its old owner,I brought him with me when I moved from N Y and would not trade him.
He does not bark, and annoy neighbors,he is clean, greets me when I come home, knows when I am not feeling well.
I can leave him with plenty of food and water over nite if I have to.
I can not do that with a dog.
Animals have feelings to and many are very sensitive to their owners feelings,
Older people who love animals but can not keep them love to have them visit,
Thank heavens for people who take them for visits to homes, hospitals, etc.

The domestic cat is the planet's most vicious and destructive invasive species and here we have a couple of richy rich cat lovers lavishing cash on the cats when uncounted thousands of kids go hungry, homeless, and neglected. Like Helmsley who left millions to a nasty little dog, these two and their lawyer need to enlighten themselves or get their priorities in order. Hundreds of thousands for invasive species ... Yikes!

I am confused.
Does this couple think that they own 52 cats and that these cats are permanently boarded at the North Shore Animal league never to be adopted, just to be on hand in case either of these two old loonies decide to drop by and check a few out for a while like library books?
That's completely nuts.

I don't care how much money you donate.

What kind of a life is that for a cat, let alone over 50 cats?

These people are crazy.

There are foodbanks in Port Washington that would have welcomed a tenth of what these old fools gave to the North Shore Animal League.

This confused me too. So instead of allowing these cats to be adopted they're going to sit in the shelter?

Is the Garden City lawyer E. Christopher Murray related to TOH Supervisor Kate Murray?

I am kind of surprised he took a case that looks like nuts.

Well, being that your entire estate consists of 2 litter boxes, some catnip, a scratching post and $27.35, it's no big thing.

Why are you so upset about this post? Is it because it refers to "ownership" of dogs and cats? Well, yell at me too. We OWN 2 dogs, whom we adopted from an animal shelter. We provide them with a good and loving home, nutritious food, play and exercise, vet care, medications, and annual licenses, which are required by law. All of this is expensive, but we do it because they are part of our family, and we love them. Their licenses list us as their owners, so legally, we own them. Of course, they are domesticated. If they were wild, you would have a point, since nobody "owns" wild animals, or strays.

Are you a radical animal rights activist, or from PETA? I think you need to lighten up, because I read the same post you criticized, and to me, the author is a caring animal lover!
