The idea of economic development should be supported by everyone in rural Jefferson County. It is the basis for our survival as a community and provides for the welfare of our neighbors through jobs created, taxes created, the opportunity to improve living conditions and less crime.
It is disheartening to see the Port Townsend City Council take an obstructionist position and declare that they can't trust the county.
The legal approach they are considering is going to cost a lot of time and money and it will create a three way tug of war between the county, the port and the city. In this time of economic hardship when we are losing businesses, parks and services this is a destructive example of Chicago style politics on behalf of the PTCC.
