THE ENOS FILES: Timeline
Dec. 10, 2010: East Providence police find Enos distressed and lying on his side in a residential neighborhood.
Jan. 7, 2011: The Rehoboth Board of Selectmen deem Enos’ Dec. 10 behavior an “adverse reaction to a medication.”
Jan. 18, 2011: The Rehoboth Superior Officer’s Association Local 208 and Rehoboth Patrolman’s Association Local 209 submit a no-confidence vote in Enos to the Board of Selectmen.
Feb. 4, 2011: Enos requests an independent investigation of his behavior on Dec. 10.
Feb. 28, 2011: The Board of Selectmen choose former Plainville Police Chief Edward Merrick of Public Safety Perceptions to do the investigation.
March 10, 2011: Enos admits in an interview that he was no longer living within town lines in Rehoboth, a violation of his contract with the town.
April 1, 2011: Enos gets a two-day suspension without pay.
April 4, 2011: The town elects Joe Tito and Mike Costello to the Board of Selectmen.
April 6, 2011: The new board receives a letter from the two police unions requesting a re-examination of the no-confidence vote.
May 2, 2011: The board makes a 2-to-1 decision to put Enos on paid administrative leave to conduct an investigation and collect statements by members of the police department.
May 23, 2011: Enos submits a written response to 60 pages of departmental complaints compiled by Tito, the police liaison.
July 12, 2011: The board votes 2-to-1 to not renew Enos’ contract past its expiration date on Sept. 30, 2011. Enos will remain on paid administrative leave until Sept. 30.
