Tina's Cafe Health Violations

Tina's Cafe has been here for about 13 years, but regular customers have minimized due to the quality of the food, service and the environment. Tina smokes in the kitchen while preparing food, she doesnt wash her hands after smoking or using the bathroom. Used rat traps are spead throughout the shelves next to the dry food. Eggs are left out all night then served the next morning, the tea is saved and served the next day. For those of you who dont know...tea is to be thrown away after 4 hours left out room temp because it breeds bacteria. The walk in cooler is missing seals, cooking utensils are rarely washed, food is served after falling on floor,when the rats get into the bread , they just throw away the pieces that the rats bit off of and serve the rest. to see photos go to tinascafe(DOT)yolasite(DOT)com

thanks basically. The problem is that the health department usually knows about these types of things and as long as the establishment corrects the violations on site then they dont get in trouble. I do find the pictures and stories to be more than disgusting , however I would like to know how people can work there and know the food is being handled improperly and being served bad and STILL serve it to people I mean dont the employees have any morals of their own . If i had ever eaten in this place and then came across these details and happened to run into one of the waitresses say in the grocery store or where ever it may be I would have to say I would be pissed off and wonder why they felt it was okay to serve me the food being as disgusting as it is . I think it says a lot also for the quality of people who work there !!! Serving people rotten dirty food for over a decade doesnt say much about them either They are just as guilty as the slob who owns the cafe . It really is a shame what people will do these days to make a quick buck !! I would never serve something to someone I myself wouldnt eat. It really is a shame that the health department hasnt done more to shut down places like this !! Now while I think you sound bitter for NOT working there anymore I can not imagine why you should be happy you are out of such a crappy place . Also as a word of advice if you dont want people telling your personal business to others then maybe you should keep it personal a work place is not some place to spill your guts about how bad your life may be They have places for things like that COUNSELING !!! Which is what I think anyone who can deal with this for more than a day or two should seek

What is an employee suppose to do? if that is there only means of income. They cant very well tell the customers and then get fired.
I agree it is disgusting, people need to know what is going on in their "favorite" restaurants.

I am a former customer of Tins Cafe. I just wanted to let everyone out there know that you are all telling the truth! I stopped eating there because I think if I had to hear about "Poor Tinas Problems" again I would have died!!! She smells volitile and she reaks of alcohol to the point that you wouls swear you were in a bar. I actually even witnessed a rat run out of the kitchen one morning!! The only problem noone has the backbone to file complaints! Dont just complain about it, file a complaint with the proper people, otherwise if someone does get sick your just as guilty for not doing anything sooner!

I haven't been in that place in MONTHS. The place is dirty, and you are right Tina does smell of booze. She talks about the customers like dogs, and older man that use to sit at the counter every day, just had coffee and to hear the father talk and Tina they made it seem like he wasn't worth the space, The three girls that worked there I know when she took it back over refused to hire them back. and to hear all about her divorce, and poor Tina ect...is discusting, and it's not only her that runs there mouth the hole time you are there that's all you heaR FROM BOTH HER AND THE PARENTS. lAST TIME i ATE THERE THERE WAS HAIR IN MY HOMEFRIES, WAS THE WORST MEAL EVER, AND THE BAD PART OF IT, WAs they did nothing to fix it. No one ever smiles in there I wonder why. I guess having to put up with a boss like her, I wouldn't smile either.

Health Dept. needs to be contacted ASAP! I've spread the word around and all that I spoke with will NEVER eat there again.

yup, as a customer who has frequent the tina cafe a few times, I was always baffled how the management individuals of the cafe would stand in the middle of the dinning area and also right outside the front door and yell at contractors for not doing special favors for them, and then shout threats to try and get something extra or for free. This told me directly the character of the owner(s).

Is this dive still open? I drive past there on my way home from work. Everytime I pass, I think of this thread. The roaches and the bugs. Can you imagine how much worse it must have gotten since they tore up the old publix? The bugs have to run somewhere. Ewwww!!

Tina's is a dump. I ate there a few times years ago with some guys that work for the city. I was not trhilled with anything about the place, but it was open early. Now I wanna puke or go to see my doctor to be tested for parasites.

My daughter and I frequent the Laundromat next to Tina's and have decided to eat breakfast there a few times. I usually give a place a chance, since I work in the food industry and realize that there are good days and bad days, great shifts and terrible shifts. But this place is ridiculous. In the 4 times we have eaten there we have NEVER received a hello. Although this is not necessarily a big deal, it adds to the experience. The shortest we have waited for our food to arrive is 15 minutes and we usually are not even greeted with a menu until we have been sitting at the table for a good few minutes. The real kicker though is that for a breakfast for me and my daughter the average price is $18. That is an omelette for me (which are typically decent in quality) and an egg and bacon for my kid.$18? I could get all you can eat at Golden Corral for that price, I could have an amazing breakfast at Cracker Barrel for that price, hell I could eat McDonald's breakfast 3 times for what I pay at this dump. Overall, I am just fed up with the place. The food is decent, but the attitude and price is disgusting.

Thank goodness for this site. This proves that every restaurant in Florida should have a health rating posted in their windows. Shame on the state for not making this more public. Im sure once someone becomes ill from places like Tina's the litigation will soar against the state.
