Seriously! This woman is just trying to help inform people of a danger. So what if you all think that "everyone" knows not to do it. Someone out there is going to see this and benefit from it. I do not recall it stated anywhere in her story that she is requesting compensation from Sam's Club. Get off your moral high horses!

Shouldn't you be leaving crude and horrible comments on another forum about a mother who's lost her only child in a fatal accident or something along those lines???

If the stupid mother had listened for the clicks of the car seat locking in, she would have known it was locked in or not. Nice try!

Almost all accidents involving children are caused by lackadazical parents.

My 4 month old was in a infant carseat in a shopping cart strapped down with the bar down. It has a clicking mechanism and was clicked, but the carseat and him in it fell out and it landd up side down. My older son said he heard a loud click before it happened. My carseat did say it will fit that way into shopping carts. I really very perticular about carseat saftey. He suffered a small fracture and is doing well. You can sit there and judge me as you did the other woman, next time go to the store and see how many mothers are doing this completely unaware of these risks. Just hope an accident doesn't happen to your children and people call you an unfit parent.

I actually had an accident with a carseat and my 8 month old about 2 weeks ago. I have the kind of carseat that actually locks into the cart. Well, she was unstrapped (not a wise decision, but we have a tendency to hold her sometimes while shopping), but anyways, my husband had her standing up in the carseat showing someone how fat her legs were and he was standing RIGHT THERE, as was I. She leaned back onto the back of the seat and it overturned into the cart, unsnapping from the cart. She fell straight onto her back and the carseat fell on top of her. There was NO negligence. And the owner's maual of the carseat even stated that the seat would snap into a shopping cart. My husband even had his hands out beside her, but it happened so fast we didn't even realize what happened until it was too late. So, for the record if your carseat DOES snap into the cart, if it falls backwards toward the inside of the cart IT WILL UNSNAP! After that I snapped it in numerous amounts of times and pulled it back and EVERY time it unsnapped. Luckily, she only come out with a few bruises. I guess we have to live and learn!

Then what do you call "unstrapped" and "standing up" in a seat?

Oh yeah, and if you're going to use the name "Parental Guidance", learn how to spell it! Guidance only has one "e" in it! Seems like you need to spend less time getting into other people's business and more time learning how to spell! HAHA

Unlike allowing a baby to be unstrapped and standing in a car "safety" seat while in a shopping cart, the spelling of my screen name doesn't endanger a child's life.

NO, BUT IT SHOWS JUST HOW EDUCATED YOU ARE. TO ME, THAT IT JUST AS IMPORTANT IF YOU'RE GOING TO TALK EDUCATIONAL ABOUT ENDANGERING A CHILD! HAHA, IT MUST HAVE BEEN JUST AS IMPORTANT TO YOU, TOO BECAUSE I SEE YOU HAVE CHANGED IT! HAHA...WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!

Look, accidents happen. I don't think Jennifer or Lola are bad or negligent parents. Kids get hurt, sometimes it's our fault because we made a mistake and other times there is nothing you can do to prevent it from happening. As parents we protect our kids as best we can. Don't judge, there is no perfect parent. he who casts the first stone, right?

Thanks for speaking out about this. I have two children and have often used my car seat in the front of the shopping cart. I won't do it anymore. It seemed safe at the time because our car seat locks onto the bar. By the way, car seats are also designed for use in certain strollers too so it isn't that big a leap to think that they can be used in shopping carts too. Enough people put them on top of the carts so that should be a strong indicator of what is common sense when it comes to newer car seats and maybe someone should put a warning label on them. Also, maybe people could remember that Lona is a person with actual feelings before they post? Poor lady is just trying to help other parents out and she's getting eaten alive for it.

I have 4 children and have always placed there car seats in the front of the Cart at the store. I also learned the hard way that it was a bad idea when my 4 month old sons car seat fell from the cart landing upside down on the ground. Thank god that he was strapped in and the bar was up because after sitting In the ER for four hours the doctor finally told us he was fine and that the car seat took all the blunt from the fall. I would like to think of myself as a good mother but sometimes accidents do happen, It would have been helpful to have known that it was dangerous before I had to learn the hard way.
