This company is the WORST of the WORST. They have the worst customer service and are downright rude and nasty. I ordered a 6 gallon carboy and was sent a 5 gallon one. I called to send it back and get the correct one and they agreed that they sent the wrong one but would not send another one unless i paid them again!!!! Not only did they refuse to FIX thier mistake, the owner yelled at me and told me he didnt care about my business and to just call my credit card company....which i did. THIS STORE OFFERS NOTHING CHEAPER THAN ANYWHERE ELSE. SAVE YOURSELF A HASSLE AND DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE

I shop with SouthernHomeBrew often and have never had a problem with their customer service. Bob is always a friendly person to deal with and ensure's the highest quality product you can find. I usually always get my packages within 3 days. Their prices are the cheapest of anywhere on the net, especially their BB kit's. I think "Dave" didn't know what the phuck he was trying to order in the first place, really why would you want to order a freaking carboy over the net anyhow with all the dumba$$ people driving UPS trucks and throwing packages? Do some research, theres alot of homebrew supply stores in the state of Virginia. And "Dave", what did you CC company do? I trust they told you to phuck off and stop wasting their time eh?

Update for my last order received Dec 24th 2010. Very fast shipping and everything was packed well. BUT the Wyeast #1388 they sent me is WAY OUT OF DATE! This stuff was made on May 11th 2010 making this yeast 7 months and 13 days old. I tried to activate the packets but nothing has happened after almost 24hrs of waiting. When I called SouthernHomeBrewing someone named "Dennis" answered the phone, I tried to explain the manufacturers date on these packages and he immediately became very rude and offended. I asked if there would be any problems getting an RA# as described on their website stating that any bad packages or problems needing returned would be allowed to do so within 3 days. He stated that I obviously have done something wrong,*Note I followed all directions from Wyeast Laboratories*. He made it out that I had no idea what I was doing, and that he has worked with every strain of yeast in the world so therefore he is a sell professed professional. Wyeast Labs states that yeast metabolism should occur withing 2hrs of activation and no more than 5hrs after activation. So I guess I'm just wrong and I've obviously done something wrong in the eyes of SouthernHomeBrewing. This is the first time I've ordered yeast through this company and will never do so again, IF I ever order from them again which I will most likely not.

This place rocks! They have great service and great prices and friendly service. Never had any problems that weren't remedied immediately. Oh well, I guess every business has some complaints.

The first time I delt with Bob, I didn't know a fermenter from a carboy. He took the time to show me everything I needed to know (sometimes more than once). Everything went great on my first try, thanks to his patience. The store is always very clean and well kept. Selection is great and the prices very fair. Thanks to these fine folks, I couldn't have picked a better place to start a new hobby.

I have ordered 3 different times, Each order included a Green Apple Reisling Kit and each time I recieved a Green Apple Gewurztraimer. The First time, Bob Sent me the correct kit with a return shipping label. Their mistake, thier cost. The 2nd time I had to send back wrong kit at my cost. The 3rd time, I was to return the wrong kit at my cost as well but i wasn't going to send until correct one showed. It never did, after numerous calls and numerous excuses, I gave up.
Bob may be "nice" guy, but he needs to take care of business. Because now somebody else is. Im shopping elsewhere.

It makes perfect sense to me. You would need to return the wrong item so that they can send you the correct item. If you don't send it back, I'd want to be paid for another one too until I received the wrong one back. You never said that you sent the wrong one back. And you're just yelling sour grapes. You know they have the best prices and they do.

Nick, read before you start shooting off at the mouth next time. "Dave" simply stated that they sent him the wrong product, which I've noticed they tend to do this ALOT! Then when he TRIED TO RETURN IT they said NO! Not only will they send you the wrong item, they want you to pay S&H twice just to get the right product that you should have received in the first place... For the record "Dennis" at the store is a complete dick, and thinks that he knows everything that's ever been known. So Nick, if you not going to actually read someones review before you start shooting shit out of your mouth, then don't bother replying at all. By the way to all others that happen to read this post, if your looking for the lowest prices on the net shop with BrewMastersWarehouse.Com .$7.99 flat rate shipping! These guys have the best prices, the freshest ingredients, and the best customer service around Marietta and on the net!

You are a complete moron to state that BrewMastersWarehouse.Com has the best prices on the net! Their prices are higher than most but the shipping is only $7.99. You're a DICKWAD - go compare their wine kit prices to SouthernHomebrew. SHB blows them away. I agree with Nick, if I ship you the incorrect item, you are obligated to return my property first before I send you a new item; so you're wrong again Dickwad.

It's obvious you have an axe to grind so your comments and reviews are worthless. Go crawl back under the rock where you came.

You are obviously a competitor of SouthernHomebrew. They are a fine company and I've dealt with them on numerous occasions as have many of my friends; all with excellent results. You lost this battle when you resulted to profanity and yes you are a DICKWAD! Now, go crawl back under your rock loser!

It's crazy to see the negative comments here about southern homebrew. I've been there a few times and have had nothing but great service. Dennis and Bob are awesome. I spoke to Dennis for 30 minutes the first time I went in and even called him a few days later to ask him questions about the airlock overflowing. He explained to me over the phone how to make a makeshift blowout to keep that from happening. The second time I went I told Dennis my beer was a little thin and he told me how to fix that too.

Not sure what happened with the guy above but I love this place and will continue to go there.

After dealing with the clown show called "Southern Home Brew" I would have to comment that they absolutely do not have a firm grasp of brewing or wine making. They are very very beginner level. They are definitely difficult to work with. They make a lot of mistakes and they will blame you for problems and take the credit when things go right. Watch them like a hawk in their business dealings. In general their customer service is non-existent. They are a bunch of yahoos that think that the customer is a revenue source not someone who deserves respect. You could throw a dart on a map and you will probably hit a better brew shop than Southern Home Brew.

I have been making wine for almost 4 years now and happily shopping at Southern Homebrew for two of those years. I find their service second to none and their pricing cannot be beat. Their regular daily prices are usually lower than their competitors and when they have a sale, they blow the competition away. For the holidays I purchased 6 kits during their Thanksgiving sale which was, from what I understand a giveaway sale. My local homebrew store would not even come close. In fact my local store wont’ even match their regular prices. I paid less with shipping from Florida than my local store; that's pretty sad. A lot of homebrew stores are looking to make the last nickel but Southern Homebrew's discount policy coupled with their fine customer service has made me a believer. You won’t go wrong shopping with them! I can understand the negative reviews but personally I would dismiss all of them. It’s unfortunate but some of these people sound vengeful. You cannot beat a winning formula and Southern Homebrew certainly has that winning formula. Enjoy your hobby and keeping it positive is what makes this such a wonderful hobby. God bless and thank you, Tom

My wife went to pick up some DME and bottle and bottle caps. They refused to sell to her because I had posted a negative comment about grain weevils. So instead of addressing my criticism and trying to fix the problem they refuse to sell to me. Think twice before you do business with them.

Owner is a very rude, angry man who seems to have contempt for anyone who has a problem. I've been in the store several times when the owner was there cussing loudly at someone on the phone while his employees looked on embarrassed and apologetic. I saw him cuss out a customer but not sure over what, but the customer stormed out, and once heard him saying really nasty things about someone he had a problem with. Fortunately I have never had an issue while there, Bob and the other staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, but they do talk about the owner behind his back and obviously don't like him. I avoid this place now and just buy elsewhere online mostly since there are no other homebrew stores in the Daytona area. Rather not risk a problem.

Yes, its amazing isn't it? Some bully with anger issues would be interacting with the public.
I don't know this clown but I've seen it before. He treats everyone this way, family, strangers, its all the same.
He's unlikely to succeed in business.
