let me fill you all on something. the store i worked at (3553) closed as of yesterday2/17/08. i was a firedog till just before xmas. I left because the store management have no respect for reservists, they hire kids who screw up peoples computers & make a problem worse than when the computer came in for repair. last the use illegal and pirated software in repairing your computer by the use of kids who dont have any REAL pc repair experience except on experimenting on the family computer. microsoft was investigating the company for use of illegal software on customers computers in which violations were FOUND!!!. not cool at all. also customer service didnt care about you at all & hung up the phones cause they got tired of it ringing(the warranties was done by assurant solutions who has a shady histroy just as bad as circut city). so i wouldnt ever shop at circut city ever again or work there.

The reason why they have a 15% percent at bestbuy/circutcity is because they have to open box it. When they get a return by their biz guide lines they have to take 15% percent off the product since it was used.. And plus it keeps those people who buy a mp3 player use it for a road trip then return it.

Contact sony customer service and inform them of the situation. they need to know this. when the the manufacturer gets involved you will get results. They don't want a bad reputation from these retail stores. BUT BE FIRM. Polite but FIRM. It does work. But somtimes there is a galactic back order if it's a common faliure to many units. and in that case ask suggest they have a lemon on there hands and request a similar model. They do do that just to shut the costomer up.(I'm a technition who deals with this often. But not with best buy or cc. Good Luck. Let me know.

I believe that both Best Buy and Circuit City, along with several other estabishments charge a restocking fee for their electonic merchandise. Yes, I do find this fact to be appauling, especially in the event that you are returning a defective product. And, even if you are returning a completely perfect product, they are going to be able to resell it and get their money back on that return, so why charge a restocking fee? I just think, either way, it boils down to simple greed on their part. And, yes, it is totally unfair and unjust treatment to their consumers. I say check the store policies out before you buy any item from them. If you disagree with their policies, don't shop there. Find a store that will care about you--too bad the "Mom and Pop" days are over....the big chains ran them out, but should've took a clue from their wonderful customer service and true care for the consumer.

I bought a 34in sony wega with a gold package protection plan at circut city. The tv quit working the 1st week in august 2006, this is now oct. 11,2006 and the tv still isnt fixed or replaced. Numerous attempts have been made to contact the company, their response is "Im sorry for your inconvenience". This is 3 1/2 months of failure to uphold all signed agreements, sort of makes you wonder how they stay in business.

Circuit City is the worst place in the world to buy anything. They do not stand behind their warranties even if you purchase their extra advantage plus. I will never go into one of their stores again and I hope the company goes belly up for the sake of everyone.

I spent 1500.00 on a new camera and a computer for my family I asked the guy helping me about the computers and monitors; I paid 600 for the coputer thinking for that price it came with a monitor. Well when I got home I went to open the box all I did was pop the tape and my husband said don't take anything out it has no monitor. I called the store explained the situation and told them I would be returing the product. No one said anything about a fee. I went back to the store and the girl behind the counter was so rude she wanted to charge me 90.00 for a restocking fee. We never even touched anything in the box. I have never been treated so bad she told me to deal with it it was on the back of the recipet and all the major stores do it. Not good. Will never go there again.

I can see maybe charging a restocking fee if the item is returned because u didnt like it but not because it was defective.....tell them to shove it.

I have worked for Best Buy for six years.

Stores are different in each city or state, but we will never charge a restocking fee for a defective item, unless it's broken from abuse. You can GPS's, camera/camcorders, and laptops back within' 14 days to exchange with no restocking fee, as well as being defective like I said.

If somebody brings back something and wants their money back because they just don't want it, then TOO f'n bad. We will charge the restocking fee for the fact that we have to resell the item, lose even MORE money on it the item, and hell, it's not like we make money off of these items in the first place!

Business is business. Retail stores are almost all the same, and we are FAR from having bad SOP guidelines.

I love our store policy. I've spent well over $15,000 in the past few years on everything, and I have used the service plans on TV's, appliances, computers, and my camera. I love them, and believe in them.

I bought a camera there, it broke after a few months, no I didnít have contract to fix it but I was willing to pay to have it fixed by them and they said sorry we only do work on items people buy a extended warrantee with us. I was pissed. I had purchased a ton of stuff and over a $100 item they were willing to loose a customer. I called customer service and the pissed me off even more. I then wrote a letter to the district manager, regional manager and the president telling them about my terrible experience and no one got back to me. After a month I wrote to the president again and included an article about how their stock value has dropped and I told them because it was service like this. I got a form letter from his security. What happened to these guys the last few years?

Heh its much better than shopping at Wal Mart, we need a Best Buy
WAL MART IS THE BIGGEST LIARS, THIEVES, AND EMPLOYEE ABUSERS EVER. HIRE PEOPLE FOR FULL TIME AND THEN GIVE THE PERSON LESS THAN 32 HOURS.
WAL MART HAS CAUSED MORE SMALL TOWNS TO BECOME GHOST TOWNS THAN ANY RETAILER EVER. DON'T SHOP THERE, THIS ONLY PUTS YOUR SEAL OF APPROVAL ON THEIR UNFAIR AND UN-ETHICAL PRACTICES.

restocking fees are not designed to rip off anyone.
If you buy a defective product these companies will gladly exchange it for the same product and commonly another model without any restocking fee at all. Yes, there are restocking fees, but only on certain products. Product which are typically bought and returns after a trip is taken or the customer had no intentions on keeping it anyway, these companies are running at very low margins and in most cases are losing money when you return the product. Some customers think they can buy a product, use it for a few weeks and then get there money back. Restocking fees are essential to curb this type of behavior. If a non defective product is returned, yes it is resold, but at a below cost discounted rate. So stop your complaining and know the store policies, which Im sure you do, before you purchase the product. Personally, Im sick of complainers like you. My quess is you rarely keep anything you buy. If a company is going to stay in business it customers like you they dont need.
